My kenmore coldspot side by side refrigerator is not making ice. Water comes out of the water dispenser. Water does not come out to fill the tray. I checked the optics and they seem to work. they blink twice and then pause. Then when I push in the emitter the light goes solid. I took out the ice machine and check to see if the electricity was reaching them and detected a circuit on the by connecting J to H and so fourth. Not matter what I do water does not come out and the motor does not move. Do you know what is wrong it seems that I have tried everything. I am thinking I need to replace a part but am not sure which one/ones.

Most common problem is a broken ice maker module.  Should also replace ice maker thermostat when changing the module.  Make sure fill tube isn't frozen first. If you take the ice maker out pull off the plastic cover and in the center of the wheel that kind of looks like a gear there are two little plastic studs.  If one is broke or they are pressed together then the module is bad. Make sure to replace the thermostat along with some silicone grease because a bad thermostat is what causes the module to break.

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?

Just above the tray that holds the ice cubes is a wire bar. If the bar is down, it will make ice. If the bar is up, it will stop making ice. When there is enough Ice in the tray, when the bar comes downm, it will hit the ice. If the bar is not completely down, no ice will be made.

I bet the bar is stuck, or you don't have a water supply to make ice (or it's plugged - de-ice the freezer).

Did you test the water valve???
if yes and water valve works, than replace the Ice Maker

Look for an ice cube lodged in the fingers IM. Get a hair dryer and melt that dude. No ice cube? Add some water to the IM mold. If it kicks out some ice but makes no more then you is gonna need a water valve. If it don't kick out no ice then you is gonna need a ice mold thermostat. Either one is very easy and cheap to fix. let me know Kimosabe.
