Minn kota trolling motor all terrain 40. motor has quit working on all speeds. seems to be in 4th speed and will speed up a little when move to 5 speed. no other speeds. have been informed it was the speed coil, whatever that is, as no one can tell me. can any year motor be used to replace present one? Have new 1996 AT55/H but dont think wiring is the same coming out of the motor. Don't know if the at55/hand will work in place of the present at40?. Has anyone else had this problem with minn kota all terrain 40 as I have two of them doing the same thing.

SOURCE: how does the minn kota 65 all terrain run on 24

You should only run the motor with a 24v battery or two 12v batters 'jumped' out. To jump the two batteries, connect the positive on one batter to the negative on the other battery and hook the trolling motor battery cables up to positive and negative terminals that are NOT jumped out as you would normally. Don't run this with 12v as you will have serious problems if you do. They do not make a 65lb thrust in 12v - too much pound thrust to run off of 12v.

SOURCE: On a Minn Kota All Terrain trolling motor, what

You should only use the MOM (or momentary) setting when using the push button the foot pedal. Con will just keep the motor running and your foot control will only allow for direction and speed!

Trolling motor stays on same speed no matter where I set the speed 10 -100. It is at a mid range speed.

I just recently had a simialr problem. No speed control and motor only ran at 100. I talked to the minn kota tech rep and sent him my control board and he said it had a bad potentiometer...however, I had to buy a control board to fix the problem ($215). Hate to say it but sounds like you may need a new control board.

I would check the battery. If you're using an old or under charged battery you will loose power for sure. Make sure you're also using a 12v deep cycle marine battery as this will ensure proper operation and a longer battery life.
