Microwave ovens operate at high voltages and powerful radio wave energies.
Any questions in the operation of one indicates for safety toss it into the trash and buy a new one.

The touch pad may be defective. There is a membrane behind the buttons that will cause problems like that. The only cure is to replace the touch assy.

SOURCE: chefmate microwave P70D20AL-D4 beeping

After calling many numbers, I was put in contact with the manufacturer, Galanz Microwave, and was told that that beeping is due to a burned out part in the keypad that is not servicable. I, too, have this annoying model!

SOURCE: buttons dont work on danby microwave

I had the same problem, but only with 4 buttons. The 3,6,9 & Start/Stop button stopped working.
Hard reset & leaving unplugged did not work. Eventually, I tried picking it up and dropping it from several inches, and smacking it on the side. That did the trick. Works great now!

My Frigidaire ffmv162lw Microwave just shows "0:05" on the display and no buttons work.

You have a shorting membrane keypad. And you are correct - if and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking, especially if it's doing this!

The details of my answer assume that your model number (from the tag on the microwave, not the manual) is FFMV162LWA (white). If not, please let me know.

On these models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

You can order part number 5304477374 from the Sears Parts Direct Web site for $98.65 (prices subject to change).

There is a video here showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then detach the keypad connector as shown in the photo below, and then remove the control panel screws.

Be careful not to crack the glass display when handling it, or it's a goner.

Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

Schematic diagram for GE JNM1851M4SS Microwave

It should be pasted to the inside of the casing, but do you know what you are doing?

The transformer and capacitor in the magnetron circuit of a microwave typically produce 2000-4000 volts at 500 mA, quite enough for you to ride the lightning bolt if you touch it. This may be so EVEN IF UNPLUGGED.

Don't mess with it anymore unless you have the clear knowledge. Take it to a qualified service tech.

Always on

Most probable failure is this VERY expensive part:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=4327040&image=1

This is what controls the Magnetron operation via the relay on the PCB. If the Magnetron is operational without programming it usually is the cause of the problem.

I would recommend that all wiring to the control board be verified before considering replacement of the board. The price of the board to me is off the charts in cost! Not sure what the original purchase cost was but the price of this board would make one consider unit replacement vs component replacement when you add in the cost of the service call.

I am sure this is not what you wanted to hear.

The microwave is absolutely dead as if getting no power - circuit breaker is OK. Died suddenly...just nothing there when tried to use.

Possibly the internal fuse. Unplug unit, remove all case screws on the back of the micro. Slide the case toward the back and remove. Look for a glass tube type fuse, simular to automotive fuses of the past. It should be located near the controls. If bad, I have been able to find replacements at Radio Shack. If the fuse is good, I'm sorry, it's beyond my microwave knowledge level.

Microwave stopped working

Yes, there should be a ceramic (tubular) fuse under the cover on the top side where the power comes into the microwave.

Error code of F-3.

F3H —Humidity Sensor Failure: Refer to the Tech Sheet and test the sensor.
The microwave oven may be provided with a self diagnostic routine that can be operated through the touch pad keyboard. To enter the self-diagnostic routine:
1.While pressing the CANCEL keypad:
a) Open the oven door.
b) Unplug the microwave oven for 2-seconds and plug it back in.
c) Release the CANCEL keypad and close the oven door. You will see the following display.
CHART
NOTE: The humidity sensor test results will appear on the display after 8-seconds.If the tests are successful, "OK " will be displayed. If one or more of the tests fail, "ERR " will be displayed.. 2.When a keypad is pressed, a number according to the test chart will be displayed. When no keypad is pressed, a blank "—" is displayed.
If you want to try to fix it your self, Always remember Electricity is dangerous and should be treated with respect.
Microwaves are very dangerous, they can still shock you even unplugged!!
Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it. With the microwave unplugged.
If my attachment made it, it shows a common way to do this....
Good Luck!
