Yellow haze Are you saying that replacement of the light engine is the only solution to this problem?

  • adidas_ink Apr 22, 2009

Where does one go to buy said blue filter. Does anyone have a repair manual? I am good with fixing this on my own, but it always helps to have a manual to fall back on.

    Thanks!

Hi...the yellow haze is probably the blue filter is burnt and needs replaced. This is very common in Zeniths. There are 3 color filters in the Zeniths blue (pinkish in color), green (grayish in color) and the red (it is red). The #1 problem in this TV is the blue filter is burnt and it is an easy fix. It could also be the LCD cube is bad. I would try the blue filter replacement first. It will probably do the trick.

Hi - we've had the blue filter of a 5 year old JVC 60inch rear projection TV burnt out after replacing the bulb. Seems even the JVC techs in New Zealand cannot get a replacement part and we have been quoted $A3900 for a whole new engine sourced from Australia. Closed shop - they won't even give us the part number for the blue filter so all our TV is good for now is being used as a boat anchor. Really gutted and if anyone can help, would be much appreciated. Regards, Karen

SOURCE: Yellow Haze Center Screen

The blue filter is burnt out. A very common problem in Zenith DLPs. There are 3 color filters, 1 blue (a pinkish color), 1 green (a grayish brown) and 1 red (it is red) they give you your colors for you picture. This is a simple fix.

Model# KDF E42A10 - first blue haze R corner, now yellow haze in the center of tv. Local guy in San Diego wants $300 parts / labor. How much for an available filter? Tijauna sony sell direct? Thanks

That is a reasonable price. You will not be able to tackle that job even if you could get the part. When it comes to light engines, please leave those to the Pro's.

Yellow haze on screen

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

Display is giving a yellow haze (ring) when projector on and colours not crisp. Have replaced the bulb with the same effect on new bulb.

the light filter on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive heat and dust. unfortunately, you'll have to purchase an entire optical engine.

I have changed my rear projection lamp and now the picture is green can you tell me what is causing this please.

It sounds like your light engine is defective. My Projection LCD had this happen and it started with a growing blue haze, others experienced a yellow haze, I suspect yours is manifesting with a green green haze.
It is a very expensive fix, depending on the age of your set, you may find it cheaper to replace it with something new, because a light engine itself costs nearly $2000 and another few hundred to install and align, not something a do-it-yourselfer is able to do

Blue haze and dull yellow patches on screen

The light engine in your set has gone belly up. It is a very expensive repair. Good news is that on a whole bunch of models like yours Sony has extended the waranty on the light engine. Check with a local authorized Sony service center and give them the model & serial number and you might get a free ride. If I were a betting man I'd take odds on 'you're in luck'. LOL

I changed the LCD lamp, but there is still a yellow haze.

The yellow haze is the result of the blue polarizer burnt-in, you will find it sitting in front of the dlp chip.

Blue haze spot-yellow tint

I have the same problem with blue haze that just spread out on model 55VS69A ,
tv is almost 2 years old. i called hitachi and they advised to call a local repair center to check the tv...they confirmed Optical Block (light engine ) replacement light engine cost $1400 and labour $400, so i called back hitachi and they said they will provide light engine and will have to pay labour!....this is not right paying out of pocket for a tv less than 2 years old....I am not sure if the issue will resurface again...more likely ....Hitachi is supposed to issue a recall or atleast like sony did to cover all cost for there defective TV's....I will NEVER buy hitach again.

Hitach SUCKS.

Hitachi 60 in. 60V715 Yellow Haze

I would first check and see if any software updates are out on this set, you can call Hitachi, if not that then it could be the engine assemble having problems.

Yellow haze in center of screen

Typically caused by a defective light engine. Part is over $1000 last time I checked on it. Could also be caused by a bad "digital board". I've seen this symptom more than once on this set.
