I have secured my router by connecting my laptop to the router by ethernet cable so now my network comes up as security enabled but I can't seem to connect to my wireless network although it shows the signal is strong and everything looks fine - it just keeps picking up the neighbour's unsecured network. Can anyone help please?

But if your wifi network icon is not there then you need to install it's driver also make sure on your laptop wifi switch is on you can turn on it with FN key + F5 key too. If you want to enable wireless in router follow below . Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on wireless and enable it then save settings and restart router. You can also set wifi security code in wireless security enable WEP then enter code it is your password to connect wifi. You may want to double-check if the wireless adapter on your laptop is enabled. If it is enabled, try to view the available wireless networks on your wireless connection and select the name of your wireless network. You may also want to check your wireless router if there is a wireless security enabled. It is important that you know the wireless settings on your wireless router to make sure that the wireless adapater settings on your laptop match the settings on the wireless router.

The yellow cable (CAT5) is giving you your internet connection
you will need to follow some steps:
1) Access the routers GUI (usualy by going to a web-page in your Internet explorer EG 192.168.0.1 check the manual)
2) make sure that wireless is enabled on the router + DHCP is enabled
3) at this stage set wireless security here as well (to stop unwanted use of your broadband and people hacking your PC)
4) make sure that the laptop wireless is switched on, sometimes there is both a physical on/off switch and a software/keyboard enable/disable button, disconnect the Yellow network cable
5) go to control panel:network connections
6) right click on the wireless connections icon and then view available wireless networks
7) if you see your network then highlight it and click connect
8) enter the security password (if any) which you set in step3 above.

1. you need to put the software belkin installation disc into the girls laptop not just the desktop.

2. you need to plug the modem back in

3. on the back of the router press the little button NOT THE RESET BUTTON MAKE SURE IT IS THE LOCK BUTTON it will ask you for a password on the laptop
