GE Profile Oven Model JKP13G0V1BB

When the oven gets to the desired temperature or shortly afterwards, an F3 code displays and the oven appears to shut down until it cools off. Can you tell me what the cause may be and what part I need to get to fix it?

Thank you.

F3 is a bad oven sensor, two screws will remove it in the upper left or right hand side of inner cavity.thin metal shaft protuding maybe 3inches or so.

That sounds pretty easy to replace. Is it?

F3 error code when warming up - the unit does one of two things 1) stops before reaching desired temp - 2) reaches the desired temp and then shuts off

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F3 error code indicates a open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

F3 and F2 Errror messages on my GE convection oven

F2 & F3 are fault codes relating to the oven temperature sensor

F2 during bake means a temperature of over 630 deg has been reached
F3 means shorted oven temperature sensor

What it means is you will most likely need to have the oven temperature sensor (thermostat) replaced .

What is an F3 message on a GE Profile JKP18 oven ?

Hi jmjburns,

The F3 fault code description is an open or shorted oven temperature sensor. Please check the sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. If the wiring is ok and still encountering the same error, please replace the temperature sensor.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

GE Oven displaying both F2 and F3 error codes; bad ERC or temp sensor?

F3 is Open oven temperature sensor circuit.
F4 Shorted oven temperature sensor circuit .
F7 Component failure.

To fix this you need to read oven temperature sensor circuit at oven temperature sensor ( approx 1000 ohms at room temp); check for cut or pinched wire or loss of contact, if wirings are ok, then replace the probe.

F3 code and beeping

F3 - F4 Open oven temperature sensor (circuit) (over 2700 ohms) or, shorted oven temperature sensor. Could be a result of:
· contamination on terminals
· pinched wire in oven temperature sensor circuit
· cold solder joint on control. · Disconnect power to range and remove oven temperature sensor connector from control.
· Measure oven temperature sensor resistance at oven temperature sensor connector (take care not to damage terminals in block) - Should read 1100 ohms at room temperature (approx 72 degrees F).
· Measure each oven temperature sensor lead from connector block to ground. If shorted, look for pinched or cut wire in oven temperature sensor circuit.
· Check connector terminals - Look for deformed or corrosion on terminals. Repair or replace.
If all above is ok replace control.

F3 code

It's your oven temperature sensor. It's a thin metal stick that juts into the oven. It is located on the upper right back wall of the oven cavity. Flip your breaker, slide out the oven. You install it from the back, very simple, two screws, i think. I'm a beginner at DIY and had no problem fixing it.
