'connect to' disappeared from start menu ? virus

Received a 'NT authority' warning on netbook, since then the 'Connect to' button has dissapeared from start menu.
When going into network connections the screen is blank showing no connections at all.
Sure I have had a virus and have been told that the drivers have been corrupted.
Do not have a disc with netbook to reinstall drivers.
What do I do?
ACER aspire one.

To check which all drivers are missing from your system, you would need to open the device manager.

Here are steps to open device manager:

    For Windows Xp:

    1) Click Start
    2) Select Run
    3) Type Devmgmt.msc and press Enter Key

    For Windows Vista:

    1) Click Start / Peral button
    2) Type Devmgmt.msc and press Enter Key

Let me know if you see any yellow exclamation marks in the list.
Please provide me with complete details of those with yellow exclamation marks.
These are the drivers which need to be reinstalled.

Even if there aren't any, please inform me.

I will assist you and make sure that you have some solution to this issue.

Acer Aspire One, connects to my wireless network ok, but none of my browsers connect to any website.

Open the command prompt (you can do this by holding down the start button and pressing the letter r, then type cmd and click ok)
In the command prompt, type this:
ping google.com
It will tell you if it gets replies. If it does not, there is a problem with the network connection. If it does not, you may have a virus. Try running a virus scan (for example: Microsoft Security Essentials).

Can't connect to server

You might have some viruses and malware.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

take the wireless card out and put it back in securely.

Make sure it is switched or toggled on

Sounds like you or someone else may have disabled your Network connections, so this is probably an easy fix.
Click on the start menu, then My Computer, then Network Connections and then View Network Connections.
Right click on the one you want to use and it will have Enable on the drop down menu, and that could do it

My desktop keeps disappearing

Hi!

Remove unnecessary programs installed on your computer. This will help you save space and then more room for special processes for system performance.

Next, I advise you to run a full computer scan. This will help eliminate viruses or spywares on your PC and I think which is also the culprit to your Desktop suddenly dissapearing. Viruses are nasty and they will do everything to bug your computer down.
