I have a Vizio LCD (VW42LFHDTV10A) -- The first time I turn the set on in the morning (either by VIZIO remote or Comcast remote), I get sound, but a solid black screen (VIZIO insignia turns from gold to white). It's only when I repeatedly turn it off and back on again that I eventually get the HDMI "Retrieving Data" screen and then a picture. The rest of the day it's fine. Can anybody help?

My 37" vizio I bought in Dec 2007 did this (green screen at start-up on all inputs). At first it went away by itself after you left the unit on for 15 minutes, but then 2 days later the whole thing DIED. Luckily Costco has a 90 day return policy on TVs.
Vizio tech support suggested this (before it died that is):
Please
try to reset
all setting
and then to see if the problem is solved.
1.
Press the Menu on your Remote Control;
2.
choose Set up on the OSD;
3.
then choose Reset All settings;
4.
Press the Exit on your Remote Control to remove the OSD.

I would say this is a resolution issue. The LCD on your MAC is capable of a much higher resolution than your television. To mirror your MAC you must lower the resolution to something that is at or below the televisions native resolution. The native resolution of the VP50 is 1366x768 so you will be able to do the following resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1366x768.

Hi,
I work as a contract technician for Vizio, and I can tell you from experience that replacing motherboard is one of the only solutions to this problem. The other solution if under warranty is to replace it. If you experience red, blue, or green pixels where dark shades (like nose, eyes, clothes, etc), call Vizio and accept nothing less than a full replacement! I have had situations where I replaced motherboard and within 2-3 hours the pixels return. Hope this helps.
