Best to first if you have not done so---UNPLUG the set for several minutes and plug back to power to see if that fixes it (it does a lot of the time especially if you had a power outage).

It can be heat relate problem causes by bad soldering works,
Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Please post back what you find.
Hi,again,Thanks for the blessings. One quick way that works for most sets its to unplug the set wait 5 min and plug it back again. Here's instructions to replace the ballast: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp47-00033a.php Found ballast here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/SAMSUNG-9137-008-08905-Lamp-Ballast-Driver-p/1139281.htm?Click=48173 Pay attention to other sounds like buzzing or whirling because it could also be the color wheel.God bless you and your house! Let me know if you need further help. [email protected]
Thats the great sound of Exploding capacitors on either the power supply board. or another one in there. Now the set is in fault protection. It tried to warn you with the RED blinking LED that there was something amiss by shutting itself down. When you unplugged you reset the error and allowed it to do it again.
