Yes it is common on the G9 and also the G7 models. It's from loose screws inside the camera. The best place I know of for this problem is camerasandparts.com They have a thing on their site for this problem where they service the camera, fix the problem and do the correction so it doesn't happen again in the camera. They're the best if you need help with a Powershot, that's all they deal with. They charge $89 for everything with the shipping back included. Hope that elps, that's the place if you need help with a Canon Powershot Camera.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

My canon powershot g9 will not turn on

Your camera probably developed a common short that the G9's sometimes get. You'll need to have it serviced and if you go to this site: www.CamerasAndParts.com they service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they are excellent on these models. It's $89 with them and you get parts, labor, servicing for the camera, and most important they perform the no power correction on the camera too. Shipping is included on the way back with them too. For $89 they're tough to beat. They are experts on these models and the only place I'd go for a Canon Powershot. Good luck with yours.

Our G9 will not turn on even after well charging the battery. Thanks, Woody

This is usually caused by two screws that get loose and cause a short in the camera. A site that is excellent for help with these is: www.camerasandparts.com All they service are the Canon Powershots and the neat thing is they not only do the repair, they include the service for the camera and the correction for the common no power problem is automatically done during the service. If you have a Canon Powershot, they're terrific for service. It runs $89 all in with the shipping back included, pretty tough deal to beat and they do excellent work on these models.

This G9 problem is really common. These cameras develop a problem with screws coming loose inside and causing a short in the camera. The place that a lot of people go for help with this problem is: www.camerasandparts.com They just work on the Canon Powershot cameras and nothing else and they do excellent work. The best part with them is that they do a correction inside the camera so the problem won't keep happening. They service the whole camera up and include the shipping going back, it comes to $89 with them. The work quality through them can't be touched, they are the place if you have a Canon. I hope that helps some. Good luck with the problem.

Suddenly my G9 won`t start at all. Battery is fully charged

More than likely, your camera has a short from some loose screws inside. A lot of these G9's get this problem.
You get it fixed, it's $89 all in at: www.CamerasAndParts.com
The great thing with that site is they just service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they totally know these cameras. They include the parts, the labor, the service for the camera, the no power correction included, and even the shipping back. It costs $89 for everything with them and they do excellent work on the Powershots.
Good luck with it. If you need help with a Powershot, they're the place for one of these models!

A common problem on the G9 is they get a loose screw inside and often it renders the camera useless with no power after that common short. There's a site you can get these fixed very reasonably and they include the correction to those internal screws so it won't keep happening. The site is: www.camerasandparts.com The do superb work on the canons for about half of what canon wants to fix these cameras. Good luck with the problem on yours.

My canon G9 will not read my card and will not format.

Not sure what the problem is as your question is not complete. Try the site: www.camerasandparts.com They specialize in all canon powershot problems and nothing else at all. All G9 problems are there if you need help. Look under their complete service and repair. Common things on your model are no power, lens errors and a flash problem. Whatever is going on with your camera, they'd be the place to get help. Hope that is helpful.

My cannon g9 camera stopped working. the lens is stuck open and it won't turn on. Any suggestions?

Common no power problem on the G9, you just need to get it serviced. There's a great site that only services the Powershots, they're amazing when it comes to servicing these models. On the G9, they do a fix in the camera so the short never happens again which is great, plus they service up the rest of the camera. They don't charge much and they're amazing if you need help with a Powershot. Try them, their site is: camerasandparts.com Good luck, that's the best place if you need help with a Powershot problem.

No power?

You just need to have the camera serviced for this no power problem. This is common on the G9 but there's a correction that can be done so this problem never happens again. It has to do with two loose screws in the camera that can result in a short and no power on the G7 and the G9 cameras. If you go to: www.camerasandparts.com they specialize in Service for the Canon Powershots and they are amazing if you need service for one of these. They actually have this exact fix available on their site for your model so you can get it taken care of for very little and have the camera serviced up completely at the same time. Try that site, that's where a lot of people go for help with the Powershots, good luck with it.

G7 and G9 have a common problem: loose screws short the circuit boards. So if it’s possible, return it. But if you really like to keep it, open the camera and make sure the screws are secured. See here for more details:

MY G9 IS NOT POWERING ON

It's a common problem with the loose screws on the G7 and the G9 cameras. The camera needs to be serviced since it likely blew a fuse when it shorted. The site that's really good for help with these is: www.camerasandparts.com They just service the powershots and they are less than most places charge. They do wonderful work but the best part is they do the correction for these problem on all G9's they work on so the problem doesn't keep happening. That's where a lot of people go for help with this problem. Good luck with yours.
