Yes it is common on the G9 and also the G7 models. It's from loose screws inside the camera. The best place I know of for this problem is camerasandparts.com They have a thing on their site for this problem where they service the camera, fix the problem and do the correction so it doesn't happen again in the camera. They're the best if you need help with a Powershot, that's all they deal with. They charge $89 for everything with the shipping back included.
