When I connect my ipod to i-tunes, it says my ipod may be corrupt and needs to be restored. So I try to restore IPOD classic and shortly after it starts it pops up "ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (1437). Is there any way to fix this?

  • camiloh1 Feb 05, 2009

First, my Ipod started with an error 69. I've even changed the music, tried again and always gives error around song 3250. Whenever i connect it to Itunes, it deletes ALL the songs and starts all over again, up to song 3250 more o less. Can´t be a corrupted files since i've changed them all. New surprise: i can`t even restore my Ipod. New error 1437. Love Mac products: few mistakes, but the first one that pops up is definitive. Thanks Mac for useless devices

Sounds like it is trying to restore from a bad back up.
If I remeber correctly, you can select which back up to choose from, when the ipod is plugged into itunes and it pops up, right click on it and there should be a option to select which back up to pick from.
If not, google for the firmware (something like ipod touch <model) firmware. be a pretty big file, Under 200mb.
Once downloaded, plug your ipod in on your pc, then clcik restore while holding the 'shift' key, then select this fimrware file you downloaded.
It should be really easy as it is only one file, once done, youll have fresh new ipod. You will loose all your songs/ pics that are currently on there so be warned!

Unknown error 9 ipod touch, iphone, itunes

Error 9:

This error occurs when the device unexpectedly drops off of the USB bus and communication stops.

This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process.

This issue can be resolved by performing USB isolation troubleshooting, using a different USB dock connector cable, trying another USB port, (DO NOT USE HUBS) restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

I have an ipod classic with 20 gig. When I attempt to restore it it to original settings I get unknown error 1439. What can I do to get it to work again?

Symptoms When restoring or updating an iPod in iTunes 7 or later, I'm guessing you got a message saying an unknown error occurred 1469
ResolutionIf you are experiencing these errors, begin by updating to the latest version of iTunes. When you have the current version of iTunes, try the following:
  • Remove any third-party USB devices you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse).
  • Restart your computer without the iPod connected. While it is restarting, you will need to force your ipod into disc mode.
  • Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  • When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
  • Now, with the ipod in disc mode attempt to restore.
  • If that does not resolve your issue, try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and then attempt to restore.
  • If after all these steps you still have not been able to successfully restore your ipod, I would recommend going to:
Follow the steps posted by apple in the solution number one box. I had this issue once and was able to resolve it with that article. If for some reason this does not resolve your issue please do let me know.

My nano won't restore.

Take it into your nearest Apple Store or Best Buy. It's covered under warranty so it won't cost you. The hard drive needs to be tested on it.
