See that button/knob at the lower right hand-side of the front? The center is a button you depress and hold to reverse. Good luck!

I was given the NECCHI 536 FB machine. It has not been used in years. The gears are frozen. I removed the top plate looks clean and dry except for some yellow looking wax around some gears. Do I remove the yellow looking build up anif so how?

Hi! Sewing is so much easier with a forward/reverse button! :-) I have a Necchi 536 fb also. Here's a picture of mine: i can't find reverse on my necchi 536fb. - efebd8b.jpg
The knob on the lower right controls the stitch length and forward/reverse. Push the center part in to get reverse and release it to go forward again.

You really need a manual for your machine--my Miss Sophia came from a pawn shop so I ordered one from relics.com (http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals.com/173/PictPage/1923115740.html) for $17.00.

I love my Necchi--you can read about her at www.robbiesews.blogspot.com if you like.

Happy Sewing!

Robbie

Necchi heavy duty royal series. Manuel says 3205FA and 3204FB. I want to know where to oil it. I also need help because it won't reverse anymore. Any advice?

It's an old metal mechanical machine, right? It is probably seizing due to old oil that has dried. Here's my method for "unfreezing" old sewing machines. (You won't believe how good it sounds and how nicely it runs after you've give it some TLC!)

I have necchi sewing machine, that was my mother-inlaw,model no. 524fb.How much is it worth, never used.

FIXYA doesn't give appraisals. That is not what FIXYA is for.

Suggestions include checking similar models for sale on the internet, including EBAY.COM and specialized sewing machine web sites.

Necchi 535FA is stuck in reverse, no matter what adjustments I change. I oiled and cleaned it and properly threaded it. Everything seems to work and move fine, except the reverse button was stuck.

A part of the Reverse Button mechanism is probably frozen.

This may work:
Direct heated air from a handheld hairdryer into the internal mechanism and let the metal parts get pretty hot. (Don't burn your fingers!) Then try the reverse button to see if it has loosened. Repeat and hopefully it will begin working. If you figure out where the reverse button mechanism is located, you can try lubricating the metal joints--ONLY 1-2 drops of GOOD quality sewing machine oil (do NOT use 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, or OLD sewing machine oil). Then try the hairdryer again. Do NOT oil plastic parts or belts unless directed to in the owner's manual instructions.

Vintage Sewing Machines

To keep your machine sewing well, be sure to clean and oil on a regular basis--about every 8-12 hours of continuous sewing, every time you empty a bobbin, or if it's not in frequent use, every six months. Oil drying out is a frequent cause of machine moving parts freezing.

Why does'n the needle catch the bobbin thread on Necchi BU Nova

Your hook is moving correctly. Not all machines do a continuous circle. If it's not catching the thread, the timing is off. It's a great machine, and worth every penny to have it serviced.

I have a necchi 3205f royal series how do I use the reverse button?

The reverse button may be used to complete a buttonhole, or to finish a row by moving back and forward. Try it out on an old piece of cloth first.

I have a 53 year old Necchi and would like to have for it a WALKING FOOT so that I can do easier quilting. Is one made for this older, yet very good, machine?

I believe thats a high shank machine, you didnt list the model number. Most sewing shops will sell that foot, bring the machine along to make sure.

I have a ramie, cotton, poly, spandex blend of material. It is pretty stretchy. I can't find the right tension combination on my Necchi royal series machine. How do I know if it ist the machine or the...

I would try using some tear away stabilizer under your material and stretching as I sew . If, you do not have interfacing try using some good old fashioned gift tissue paper. Make sure that you are using good thread, Sulky or Guterman, cheap thread is terribly linty and causes build up in your machine.
