The power/menu button of my RCA M4304-A mp3 player doesn't work at all. I can't turn it on or reset. I was working last night until I tried to get to the menu but it wouldn't go. So it continued to play until the battery died. Then I charged it this morning and I haven't been able to turn it back on or even reset it. Help?

When the M4304 keeps shutting off all the time, you did well by trying to charge the player: 3 hours of charging the battery, with the player connected to a running computer, should be long enough to charge to full capacity.
1. Check the HOLD switch ( ) on the rear: move the switch away from the padlock sign.
2. RESET the player: hold the Menu button ( ) for more than 10 seconds.
When the player will not respond to key presses, try next to reset the device: press and hold the standby / menu for more than 10 seconds.
Most of your settings will be preserved, only settings that have been made after the last power off will be lost.
When the player still won't work after the reset, a firmware update or reinstallation may be required. Need more help ? Just add a comment in this thread.
Assuming that it is completely charged, and resetting (press and hold play button for 15 seconds) does not work, it is likely that the firmware has gotten corruped.
First, connect your player and back up any important media items that are on it.
