Is some water in the tub of a top loading washer normal?

I have a WTW5200S top loading clothes washer. After a load is done it looks like there's no water in the tub but if you move it around by hand you call still hear some sloshing around. Is this normal or should all the water get pumped out at the end of the cycle?

It is normal to have residual water in the drain lines and pump following a wash cycle. This is the low point of the drain cycle and gravity will ALWAYS cause some water to be there. As long as the water is not visible in the spin basket, you have nothing to worry about.

Some model washers also have a balance ring around the perimeter on top of the wash tub that is filled with fluid. This acts as a stabilizer to help keep the washer balanced during the spin cycle. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

Sounds like water is still in washer when cycle is done

It’s normal for some water to remain. Is this top or front load? Is it spinning water out of clothes?

Gunk gets on clothes-stains them,i pulled agitator out and cleaned it off ran bleach thru-its better but still getting on clothes

The problem may be the seal on the transmission failing. If this happens, grease from the transmission (necessary for it to function) will leak and float (recall from science class that oil is less dense that water) up into the washer. As the grease enters the tub, it stains your clothes.

Two speed auto washer - found water all over floor - no leaks on any hoses or drain. Wife said last load was unbalanced and machine was rocking around bad. Tub seems very wobbly to me when I move it...

having a very unbalanced load can cause the water to go over . yes the tubs are supposed to be able to move around some.run a load with no clothes in it if it leaks then you may have a more serious problem

Water still in tub

The splash ring on top of the basket has water in it for balance. As long as you don't see water in the bottom and the clothes are spinning correctly, then there shouldn't be a problem.

You can hear water still in the washer - not inside the tub where you put the clothes but inside the washer machine.

I believe you are referring to a GE top loading washer. GE uses a liquid filled balance ring around the top of the washer to help compensate for off balance load. The sound is perfectly normal.

GE top load washing machine will not spin/suction clothes with normal load

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.
