Clean/repair the dryer vent. If the airflow is restricted the result is the one you just described.

Good luck,

My dryer runs and gets hot but cloths don't dry.

Your problem may be attributed to a clogged exhaust system (e.g.: clogged inside the dryer's vent, flexible vent behind dryer clogged and/or clogged inside wall, etc.).

if you have any heat than your element is good, the reason it take's so long to dry the clothe's is due to a blockage, first you nead to look behind the dryer with out moving it to see if the vent hose is pinched off, next try running the dryer with out the vent hose hooked up,if it dry's well than you have a blockage some were between were the vent hose hook's up to the dryer and vent outside.you nead to check the roller's for the clicking noice.

The vent may be stopped up, or the vent hose crimped so the air cannot escape, you can check the air flow at the vent on the outside of the house while the dryer is running.
try cleaning the vent and the lint screen with a vacuum cleaner, you may need to replace the vent hose, this should solve the problem

My Whirlpool heats up, everything is clean. Clothes will NOT dry! Excessive moisture present when I open the dryer door after running for 120 minutes. Had this problem before and the ductwork was clog

Are you sure the fan is working . Also the heating element could be shorted to the heat element cover. Take an ohm meter and check from the heating element to the cover if you get ohms it is shorted if the meter don't move it is ok. If it is shorted you get half the heat not hot enough but still feels warm. Hope this helps good luck..

you need to check that for vent hose is not kinked if it is not then remove it from the dryer and see if it work right if it does then the vent tube that goes thourgh the wall has a blockage

with a gas dryer in which your assured te hventing is free and clear of any obstructions, i would look to replace the coil pack located atop the gas valve itself, probably about $25 part number 279834... 2 coils simply mount atop the valvle

Whirlpool gas dryer is not hot .burner ignights but it is not hot enough

If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.

Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle:

  • The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees.

  • When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.)

  • The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again.

This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But…if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.
