Got a virus on my emachine and it will not let me perform a system restore the virus keeps blocking it, what should I do?

Your best protection in general is a complete internet security suite such as Bitdefender or Norton internet security 2009.

If you need to totally rebuild your system and you don't have a recovery disk, contact eMachines to get one.

ask emachines for duplicate dvds of your startup disks.
your os is Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic
any copy of that would work, but you wouldn't have the cyberlink or other software

before doing that
you may first try checking for viruses or startup programs
and then reinstalling any game software

maybe your sims is broken. verify that it works on another machine

Boot in safe mode (keep pressing F8 until boot screen appears) Do a system restore from a period before the virus.

it is a posible issue with the Operating system. You can install the OS if you have the disk.

If you do a complete reformat with the factory discs any viruses will be removed. Remember to back everything you want to keep up first on CD or DVD or thumbdrive.

Emachines usually gives you restore disk to restore it to factory setting (out-of-the box). see if you can find that disk if not you can contact Emachines and get it from them. it should not be too expensive just shipping could be part of expense. i would say about $25. i would call emachines and get it from them
