Zoom H4 Handy Recorder Logo

I wanted to check the amount of storage left on my zoom h4n sd card. I went into the sd card file via the zoom h4n menu and it asked me if I wanted to format the sd card. I tried to select 'no' but the selection went to 'yes' and proceed to reformat the card. In the process it delete all my files on the sd card. Is there any way to recover the stereo wav. files which were deleted in the reformatting of the card?

Yes, you should connect your SD card or your recorder (as removable drive) to PC. Then you can try to recover your files with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:http://www.munsoft.com/EasyDriveDataReco... It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.

You may try some recovery software to rescue the files on your handy recorder, here are some for your option.

Photo Video Music Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Video Music Recovery for Mac

Both programs can also recover video and music files.

Note: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the recorder in case the original files(your recordings) are overwritten.

I downloaded the TRIAL version of Wondershare Photo Recovery Software (windows version). It successfully scanned the SC card in my handy recorder (in this case, a Zoom H4n), finding all 22 wav files I had mistakenly deleted from the recorder. SUCCESS! The software reported that it could save all of my files, but I needed to purchase the software ($29.95 for a single user license). The registration code came to my email account instantly, and as soon as I entered the registration code into the trail version software, it saved all 22 of my wav files to a new folder of my choice on my computer HD (I could have selected some other destination. I AM VERY HAPPY. (I ran this using Windows XP). (The trial version of Wondershare Photo Recovery Softwarer that i downloaded to my Mac OSX 10.4.11 did not seem to run with my version of the Mac OS) ---professor MB of the Univ. of Washington.

Yes, there is a way for you to recover these deleted files on this SD card. So, don't worry!
The deleted files on a memory card are not actually erased as we think. They are only saved there and become invisible.
So, in order to get them all back, you should act carefully.
1). Do not format this SD card, if you still want to save your data completely. The formatting process always may increase the difficulty of successful data recovery and cause data loss for you.
2). Do not save anything new on this card in case of data loss.
3). Download a SD card data recovery freeware to save your wanted data back successfully at first and then format this drive to fix its problems.
Try to take chances with this SD card data recovery freeware that would completely get back all your deleted files back:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/03/sd-card-not-formatted-error.html

Note: Do not forget to format this card after completely get back your data.
Remember to back up everything important on different drives or cards in the future.

In these days, the formatted process often could not completely erase the contained data on a SD card.
In other words, you always do have chances to get back these deleted data back after the formatting process as long as you've not overwritten it with any new file.
Try to use a SD card data recovery freeware to retrieve your deleted files back from this formatted SD card.
http://www.formatrecovery.blogspot.com/2013/02/recover-data-after-formatting.html

Note: Next time, you should never save all the important data on only one hard drive.

Hi,
Accidental formatting of memory card is quite common cause that happens in some unfortunate scenarios and results in loss of files from SD card. However, you don't worry much about it as it is still possible to recover SD card WAV files until they are overwritten by some new data. So it very important to stop using SD card immediately after the formatting for saving new files and also avoid reformatting of memory card to prevent permanent loss of your valuable WAV files. Recover SD card is one such tool that perfectly helped me to restore WAV files, other audio files, video files, generic photo types and also RAW photo file formats supported by latest DSLR cameras. Once you also try to download the free version of this tool and check its performance. I am sure that it will restore your WAV files.

SOURCE: I can't change the file types on my Zoom H4n.

I discovered that if I have the stamina button engaged (by the batteries) I cannot change the record type, either by the button or through the menu (the rec setting does not give the option). If I take stamina off -- which only takes effect after a restart -- the rec settings work normaly, both through the button and the menu!

SOURCE: deleted a file by accident. Can you recommend

Deleting won't make your files deletedactually. They are just not visible but still in the hard drive which you savedthem at. You can rely on some data recovery programs to help you find themback. You can try Card Data Recovery. Just install this program on your computerand use the function "all recovery", after a while your deleted fileswill be back soon.

Zoom handy recorder H4n ver1.72 stuck on ZOOM window

If your Zoom Handy Recorder H4n is stuck on the ZOOM window and you are unable to access the menu or use the recorder, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Try restarting the recorder by turning it off and then back on again. This can often resolve software issues.
  2. Check the battery level and make sure that the recorder has enough power to function properly. If the battery is low, charge it or replace it with a new one.
  3. Try a hard reset by removing the batteries and/or the SD card, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds before reinserting the batteries and/or SD card.
  4. If the above steps do not work, try updating the firmware of the recorder. You can download the latest firmware from the Zoom website and follow the instructions for updating the firmware on your device.
  5. If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Zoom's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or repair options.
It's important to note that if the recorder is still under warranty, you should contact Zoom for repair or replacement.

I have a Zoom H4N and i am unable to select different modes on my recorder. There is actually no 'mode' available in my menu. How do i fix this? It is brand new out of the box.

If your H4n is in STAMINA mode (Switch in battery compartment) then MODE is not viewable in the MENU. Simply Turn off the STAMINA Switch and restart your H4n (Turn H4n OFF then ON again)

Hope that Helps

How do i get the pictures from my camera to the memory card

the question I ask is why would you want to do this?

The camera has XX Mb of memory in case the card becomes full. Generally one downloads the pics on to a PC and deletes the Camera files to start again

If you want to keep the pic files in memory and save them tpo your pc. remove the card for safety.. Interrogate your camera via the connection cord and the software it came with. Download the folder with the pics in memory to your PC. Then delete the files on the camera. Insert the SD card and In menu, set up to save files to SD card rather than memory while there is space.

How to increase the storage area without using the storage card?

Hi. You can increase the space on your storage area by transfering some unused files from your storage area to PC, or you can simply uninstall some unused programs from your device. I also recommend you to use your SD Card for your pictures, music, videos (they take a lot of space, so its better to keep them in your SD Card). You can simply transfer these kind of personal files from your storage area to your SD Card by using the default File Explorer (can be found in the start menu). At least 3MB should be left on your storage area in general, you can check sizes of the free space on your storages areas by accessing the Memory menu in the settings. Hope this helps.

Mini SD card

Goto the Start Menu, then down to File Explorer. Hit the menu Softkey and scroll down till you see Storage Card. The other way is if you hit the Up softkey while in /My Documents (where file explorer defaults to), just scroll down and you should see Storage Card. It's easy to tell because it has a small pic of a MicroSD card on the folder. Hope this helps!

Zoom H4 Recorder Says, "Card Full!" But it is NOT!

I encounter this error with my 16 gb SD card and Zoom H4n.
I try to format the card inside and outside fo the Zoom, use 8 gb and 32 gb instead of 16gb card and, but get the same error.

But I find a solution.

1. I format my SD card inside Zoom with builtin utility. (Menu - SD Card - Format)
2. I reinstall Zoom firmware
(instruction and download here: http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h4n/software/ )
3. I format SD card inside Zoom again.

I took a several test and didn't get a "Card Full" error.
