My 6 month old IXUS 75 came up with the "lens error" problem and the first thing the Canon dealer asked is "did you drop it". No, I didn't drop it and they could not fix the problem in Brunei. The camera had to be sent to Malaysia and it may be out for 4 weeks. Is Canon out-sourcing their quality now? Looks like I'm not alone with this problem....

Cannon IXUS 75 - Lens is stuck in the extended position and will not retract when the camera is turned off and back on. (as per error message) I also noticed the camera was getting hot on the bottom right side where the serial number is, opposite the battery compartment. I have now taken the battery out. Camera is 10 months old, has not been dropped and has been fantastic up until now.

Help, my camera says lens error and I cannot use it

  • astrohubble Apr 03, 2009

My Canon Ixus 70 is having the same problem as most of the other contributors to this site. The lens doesn't come out when I start it up. The failure message is 'Lens error, restart camera'. But restarting the camera doesn't solve the problem. is there any solution? e.g. How do you factory-reset this device?

The manual states that the battery door was opened during use. Close the battery door and turn it on and off. You may need to push it closed to make sure the battery connections are made.

I had the same problem, and I recommend you to take out the memory card, and insert it again before you do a reset.

It solved my problem! Give it a go!

Hi

What you are seeing is just an error message, starting your camera again won't do anything unfortunately.

You need to replace the lens, we have your lens repair available on our site for about $75! If we can help please let us know.

My canon ixus 75 is not turning on properly the zoom lense is stuck out and wont retract. When i turn it on it says "lens error reset camera&quot

OK, assuming the batteries are ok, the problem is within the mechanism for the lens being too 'binding' while it operates.

Sometimes, people put their finger on the barrel of the lens when it retracts or extends.

If you reset the camera and it still does this, the camera needs to be serviced by Canon.

Lens wont retract so camera turns itself off

If the lens will not retract, and you cannot get to the menus, you need to have it repaired or sell it for parts on a site such as Ebay.
Since it is not working anyway, you may want to try the following, be warned that it can cause more damage, as the camera turns on, push on the lens in a gentle twisting motion. Do this until you see it retract, or it will not fix. At that point, you have to make a decision.

Lens error,,restart camera.,,the lens wont go back in ,,and the camera will not work,,,its like the lens is stuck,,,can any one help please!!!

Did you try replacing the batteries? If that's not the problem, then it might just be stuck. Look to see if the lens is a little crooked. If it is, try to gently straighten it. If it still won't retract, try to gently push it in as you turn the power on.

Zoom wont adjust

Hi there. I can help you with that.

The number one problem with cameras with lenses that won't retract or or move out into position is dirt, grit or sand in the lens mechanism. The best way to fix this is to get an air compressor and put the tip up the lens and blow air into the space around the lens. Run the tip of the compressor nozzle around the lens and turn the camera back on. See if that helps. If it doesn't do it one more time.
If it helps, great. Stop there. If it doesn't help, let me know in a comment and I will tell you a couple more things to do. I want to wait, because they are things that you should only try if you are ready to trash the camera, but they usually work. Hope the air compressor works.

Canon ixus 75 digital camera reset?

Hi

There is no camera reset for this model, what you are seeing is a generic stuck lens error message.

Your lens needs to be cleaned or repaired, and if it cant be repaired it needs to be replaced. There are online places that will do it for a decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.

Fixya rules prevent me from giving you a link to anything off Fixya that would help you fix your camera.

Good luck from
