I've just purchased an acer 5532 with built in crystaleye webcam,but i don't know how to activate it. ive tried looking in control panel and searching all files but my computer says it doesn't exist

Yes, the Acer Aspire 5532 comes with all essential connectivity features, for face-to-face communication with friends and family, you can use the built-in Acer Crystal Eye web cam available on the front screen panel. To access the webcam click my computer scroll down the mouse and in the scanners and camera section you will see the usb video device. Click it to activate the camera.

Should come on automatically if you use a program that supports webcams. Just check the webcam is installed in the Device Manager.

Probably you have software disc who came with laptop in that disc you have software for webcam (Acer Crystal Eye)

You don't have a web-cam on your Acer Aspire 5532. Sorry, I actually bought a brand new Acer Aspire 5532 with Windows 7. It's really nice but that little black circle at the top of your screen is not a camera. I do believe you can have one installed though.

However, there are webcam drivers available for download from the "Drivers & Download" page for this laptop model. So, I would assume that it has a built-in webcam.
Anyway, all modern laptops nowadays have built-in webcams.

No,it doesn't. But there are many other ways to connect a camera to your ACER,it just wouldn't be built in obviously. I have the same computer,which means i have the same problem and unfortunately no WE Aspire 5532 users don't have a built in webcam.

I recently purchased this exact same model - Acer Aspire 5532 from Best Buy. The laptop looks like it could possibly have a webcam on it because of a round piece where a built-in webcam would go but the box clearly states that this model does not have a webcam.

Do you have sound working in any other application? Have you checked the device manager to see if there is a problem with the sound device or a conflict? Try updating both the sound device and the webcam drivers.

Adjusting the volume with hotkeys

• Press the Fn key + the up arrow key. This will turn the volume level up.
• Press the Fn key + the down arrow key to adjust volume levels down.

Checking volume control for muted input/output devices

• Click Start, All Programs, Accessories
• Click Entertainment, Volume Control
• Ensure that all volume control levels are raised and any mute boxes unchecked, with the exception of the microphone.

Reinstalling the sound device

• Click on Start, Control Panel.

For Majbrit, check your webcam properties for any changes. You should also take a look at the administrative tools > event viewer to see if there was an event in the application log or the system log at the time your cam stopped working correctly.
