Lawn mower shuts down after it gets hot , 18 hp troybilt mower

That part is a shutoff valve for the emissions system. When not connected it prevents fuel flow inside the carb. Sounds like the float or needle valve is sticking that is assuming the choke is working correctly...you should be able to see it working.

you have bad valves it needs a valve job this is because the hatter it get it looses power and will shut down when to hot

ck. to make sure the wire to the ignition coil is hot. may need to replace the ignition switch.

Check to see of where the canles connect to the linkage, there are usually thumb nuts you can adjust similiar to that of the brakes on a bicycle handle bar.
