Overheating cpu i running amd athlon 64x2 dual core 4000 2.1ghz its overheating running at between 60 to 70. got 2 gig ram um dont know if my power supply could be the problem as its only 200 watts. had the thermal paste changed twice as i thought too much was applied that never helped. had two extra cooling fans installed to **** air into the casing that not helping either. set my bios menu to the fail safe settings no luck there. my motherboard model is GA-MA69VM-S2 chipset amd 690V. if anyone has any ideas or solutions to my problem as i am at the end of the road here. any advice would be greatly appreciated

What is the best upgrade cpu for a compaq presario sr5110nx 32 bit vista O.S... ATHLON 64 (single core) without having to go to 64 bit, and/or new drivers ?

The 400W PSU is going to limit your CPU selection to dual-core at best, although you might be able to get away with a higher-end dual-core CPU if your RAM is not ECC and not dual-channel, and you're not running anything serious in terms of a graphics or sound card or a SCSI array.

Given your current setup I'd really look for a 1.6Ghz dual-core Athlon which has a decent amount of KB in its Level 1 and Level 2 cache, but 3MB for its Level 3 cache.

Anything beyond that ballpark of a CPU upgrade is certainly well within the bounds of diminishing returns, and you should look at getting a new PSU, motherboard, and probably RAM (I'm guessing you're using DDR2 RAM currently).

First time I heard that But Maybe your board needs a bios update which I personally wouldn't do unless you really know what your doing. I would buy better ram and more of it and just use the two slots that work.

I have a Lenovo 3000I have a Lenovo 3000 J115 7387-A32, I replaced the AMD athlon 64x2 Dual-Core 3600+ with a AMD Athlon X2 5000+ 3200mhz Scoket AM2+ CPU, when I turn on the computer the fan in the power...

I think the first thing to do is go back to the cpu Fan and check the plug and make sure you are on the pins as should be make sure that there isn't any Bent pins . Continue on to the next fan in question. If not then I would not continue Running this machine Until I had the fan problem fixed. It doesn't take long to mess things up. I am surprised that it will run . I would like to have faith in the hardware monitor to propely shut it down.then I would go to the power source Plug on the motherBoard . Check that it is connected good and try it for a short run on then off to make sure that the fans are running like they are supposed to.
