Sony cmt-hp7 - broken

We have a Sony CMT-HP7 5 DISC CD/RADIO/TAPE Player. It has never worked since buying it, but as it went straight into storage we didn't realise until it was too late.

It makes a loud clunking sound and doesn't play cd's at all. It comes up with the Mecha Error too. We've had it apart but can't get the cd drive out of the bottom of it.

Tried to get a service manual with no luck as we don't have paypal or a credit card.

thanks

The unit will attempt an internal reset to start from a known position. If you are hearing mechanical noises, the unit is out of sequence and must be rebuilt. These are not the most straightforward units. If any portion of hte system fails the "startup" sequence, the entire unit will stop. Unfortunately, this may need to see a servicer.

Prestting the stations

All of the presets I have encountered in the last years were thankfully simple; you manually tuned the station, then simply pressed and held the desired button until the display was stable (not blinking).

Please help - I purchased my Mother an iPod (4g NANO) for Christmas and need to know how she can hook up the iPod to her stereo system to use it as I do at home. With mine all I needed was a AUX Cable...

All you need is a 1/8th stereo adapter that runs two rca jacks out red/white! You can get this at any radio shack store...Plug jack 1/8th into mp3 player and the red/white jacke can plug into her aux input Or any other input!

Shelf cds is blocked SONY CMT-HP7

To get the cds to play, and 5 to eject, you can try taking off the sides of the consul and using compressed air. As for the shelf problem, I'm not really sure.
