I had my door ajar light stay on, turns out the switch in the drivers door latch broke, in order to fix it you have to get a whole new latch mechanism. I went to a junkyard to get a latch but the guy at the junkyard broke the switch while removing it from the door. I got a new latch assembly from the dealer, pretty reasonably price if I remember correctly. They are pretty easy to break right where the electrical connector connects to the switch. Maybe you have a broke switch?
well if the cable snapped you will need to try to get the front grill to pop out with out breaking it and look up and in to get to the little latch for the hood release.
there are service to centres across the country...you can take your cam to repair it.but it may be expensive..google search for service centres nearest to your location
I suspect if you write a cordial note to Sony they just might fix it even though it is a few days out of warranty.
I personally have had extremely good service from Sony (Sony Germany that is).
