Im trying to install an updated flash player (adobe 10)
I have been attempting to install an updated version of adobe flash player (VERSION 10) with much confusion. I found that I needed to download the ''latest version'' when prompted at a simple you tube video stating that I get the new version as did a music download site (walmart) as did mlb.com when I tried them the same with several business sites. I took all the steps (I think) to download it from ADOBE. The You Tube videos work again but the music download site does not work , stating the need for an updated flash player. To compound matters, in norton 360 diagnostic that lists the programs on the computer, adobe flash version 10 is one of them. Should I try to download version 10 again? how do I fixthe situation?

Ok, here's what you need to do to try to fix this.
- make sure to remove/uninstall the adobe flash player 10 on your computer (remove it under the control panel.
- download and install adobe flash player 9 and install it.
- once installed try to browse a video, if it works, adobe itself will just update to the latest version.
When tiy installed your Adobe 10 was it an upgrade on a new install? Whenever you upgrade or install the Flash player you have uninstall all prior versions first. What you might try is uninstall then reinstall. Java is important also.If you don't have it you should get it. If you do ahve it make sure it's updated. To update Java, Get into "control panel", right click on the Java icon and click on the update tab at the top of the window. Hopefully this works for you. Dave
The component is named 'ActiveX'.
The version of the Adobe Flash Player was 9-point-something, but now
the current version of the Adobe Flash Player is 10-point-something.
So, use Add/Remove Programs to _remove_ Adobe Flash Player.
Restart your computer.
Access: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
and allow the ActiveX control downloaded from Adobe to be installed.
Hi.
Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the issue is due to the Adobe Flash Player.
All the Games on Facebook require Adobe Flash player.
Hence, it would be better to install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player.
Before installing the latest version, it is required to un-install the version which is already installed in the Computer.
Then, install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player.
You may un-install the older version of the Adobe Flash Player by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature.
Once you have un-installed the older version of the Flash player, then you may install the latest version.
Link to download the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player.
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flashplayer_10_ax_debug.exe
Please click on the above link to download the Adobe Flash Player.
Please un-install the older version of the Flash player and then install the latest one.
Performing the above mentioned steps should resolve the issue.
Hope this helps.

Videos on YouTube are streamed through Adobe Flash player. If you're having trouble playing and viewing videos YouTube, we suggest you install the latest version of the Flash player: this will allow you to easily play YouTube videos. Here's how to upgrade to the most recent version of Adobe's Flash Player:
Before installing the most recent version of Adobe Flash player, you will need to first uninstall any older versions of the Flash player you've installed in the past and currently have running on your computer.
Please completely uninstall the version of Flash you're currently running, before upgrading to the most recent version. To uninstall Flash, follow Adobe's instructions, listed here. You'll need to download Adobe's official Uninstaller to remove Flash.
Once you've uninstalled the older version of Flash, you'll be ready to upgrade to the most recent version of Flash. To upgrade to the most recent version of the Flash player, please follow these steps:
Once you've downloaded the latest version of Adobe Flash, please exit your browser.
Finally, click to install the update that you just downloaded to your computer from the Adobe Flash site. Once you've done so, open your browser again and go to YouTube. You should now be able so successfully watch videos!
If the instructions above don't resolve the issue, please also try the following:
Temporarily disable popup blocking software installed on your computer to test.
Allow YouTube.com as a trusted site in your Firewall software.
Ensure other applications like Quicktime, iTunes, Real Player, or Windows Media Player aren't set as the default streaming application, as this might affect the video player.
For Windows Vista users: If the Flash uninstall / reinstall does not work this maybe due to a Microsoft Windows Vista permissions issue.
Please use the Windows button at the bottom left then the search function:
Go to: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\.
Right-click on the following file: FlashUtil9b.exe or FlashUtil9e.exe.
Select "Run as Administrator" and install the update..
Restart your computer.
Please post your feedback and vote if the issue is resolved as per your satisfaction.
You may need the latest Java Updates. Go to www.sun.com and download the latest Java Console to your computer. After installation, try to download Adobe Flash Player again. If it does not work then your operating system may not be compatiable with Adobe Flash Player 10. You may need to download an older version such as Adobe Flash Player 9.
You can find older versions of Adobe Flash Player such as 9 on www.cnet.com type in the search field (adobe flash player 9). After the options show up, choose the file to download and install.
Be sure to check your available memory and system speed which are also factors when installing flash software.
