Bought Sony Bravia LCD in March 2006 and this March.........picture has vertical multi color lines on lower off of screen ..
Took to Wolf's Repair (VancouverWA) and they have quoted could be two different curcuit boards but can't tell which one until they replace...1st one will cost $650 and if that doesn't fix the lines the second one will cost $900..........
We thought we bought a quality Sony product...Have not agreed to this work yet.........Charging us $80 just to tell they don't know the problem.

If the line is present in all inputs and modes, there is a problem with the LCD Panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel which is very expensive (usually around $1000+ for 40" Sony). Unless the TV in under warranty, it is usually around the same price for a new TV.

In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. Check the fuses on the power board. there is one fuse on primary side and one on secondary side.
Take
of back panel and follow plug into the tv.where it ends is the power
board.always use caution.the capacitors in there hold high voltage even
after unplugged for a couple of days.Discharge capacitors before
servicing the board.
