After your last wash for the day, wipe the water from the rubber door gasket and leave the door propped open between washes. I usually stick a folded up washcloth in the top of the door frame at the hinge to make sure no one closes the door. This is a problem with all front loaders.

I have had my LG front loading washer for over 5 years. I always leave it open to air dry after I am finished, usually for one to two hours. This past week I have noticed a mildew smell coming from inside...

you might want to try cleaning the washer using 1 cup of Clorox bleach, run it through the white or sanitary cycle, unless your machie has a clean washer cycle like mine does. Hope this helps.

My Samsung front load washer, which is about 1 1/2 old, smells like mildew. I've read that people put bleach in the drum and run it on a maintanence cycle and I'm wondering how I do that. ...

I had this problem too---same washer. The rubber door seal often harbours moisture and it's hard to clean just by running a cycle. You'll have to scrub away the mildew by hand.

Get a pair of gloves, a soft sponge, and a bucket of hot water with soap and bleach. Open the door. Press the sponge into the folds of rubber where the moisture is trapped. Work your way around the circumference of the seal. Repeat until the black goo is gone. Finally run a rinse cycle with some bleach.

Avoid this in the future by leaving the door ajar when not in use. Tuck an old towel into the seal to wick away the water.

Let us know if the smell is still there.

Error code E:13 is showing on the washer

Mine did it too on a light load. Set to reduced spin and rinse spin and everything ok. Think this code shuts washer down when spinning out of balance to protect damaging the unit.

Mildew smell

Are you useing HE detergent? If not this is your problem! The reason why you need to use HE detergent is because it is made specifically for front load washers. The regular soap is made to be deluted in 20 gallons of water your washer only fills up with about 7. so what it does is it leaves a layor of residue SINKY SINKY. Especially when you leave the door shut all the time. It's like a Bathroom if you do not ventilate it properly it will Sink eventualy. So also please leave the door cracked open.
So to getr ride of the smell Sears sells a product called Afresh or Washer Magic I prefer the Afresh you get 3 tablets and it works great atr removing odors out of your washer. Also if you are on a Well wateer it is safe to use. Or you could use good old bleach with no clothes till the smell goes away

Mildew smell on clothes

I have the same machines. Try using an old towel and detergent solution( use rubber gloves) and thouroughly clean the door seal. It can be just full of old lint, dirt, etc. in the grooves. Also try some oxyclean in your next load. That will help get rid of the odor also. These washers stay warm quite a long time and clothing will mildew fast in warm weather, but you probably already know that.

Run a wash on the highest temperature, and add some vinegar into it. May do this more than one time. Be strict to wash on the higest temp some times in the month.

Mildew smell

Try doing just a hot bleach water "load".  Also check underneath and around the machine to make sure it's not leaking.  If it did or is and you can see the mildew just spray it with bleach.
