Hello, Connect an external monitor and check if the vertical line also appears in the other monitor. If it does, then scan your computer with RadarSync and update the outdated drivers (video card driver). If the line does not show in the external monitor, then you need to get the LCD checked by a technician or you can reset the monitor yourself or replace it with a new one.
There will be buttons on the front of the monitor where you can change the position of the screen, you could also do this in the display driver on your macbook although I couldnt tell you exactly how on that particular mac, pretty sure the menu onthe monitor will get it sorted though.
First place to look will be the power supply section, see if it has bad caps (bulging top), check to see if you have 12~18vdc feeding the inverter circuits, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
How to troubleshoot a Samsung SyncMaster 743NX LCD
Monitor?
My Samsung SyncMaster 743NX
monitor turns on slowly. I mean, last week when I started up my pc,it
took 5-10 mins before my monitor displayed anything. I know the pc is
already turned on because I've already heard the Windows Vista start up
tune play. The problem is now getting worse as it now takes 20-30 mins
before my monitor displays anything. Please help.
You may be blaming the wrong device.
I suggest you try the monitor with another system, the problem you describe could be located in the video output of your system instead of a monitor fault.
If you have a second monitor, you could use your computer until the monitor goes black... then plug in a replacement monitor. My guess is that one will display black too...
My gut feeling is that your VGA card is on the fritz... I'm not convinced it's your monitor. Do you have a replacement VGA card you can try? I'll bet that'll take care of the problem.
