The standby light just blinks when i try to turn it on and it wont turn on

    How many times does it blink? This is an error indication. It should blink x number of times at about a second between blinks then pause 3 seconds and reapeat. Let me know how many blinks and I may be able to help you. Thanks for using FixYa. hardrocko

I have the same problem (Sony KP-51WS520 wont turn on). The standby light blinks 4 times when pressing the on button.

Count the number of blinks of the standby light. It will bink a count, pause and do it again (Common counts are 2 -9) Give this count to a Sony service center and they can help you know what the issue is. (Probably the lamp)

SOURCE: sony blinking standby light

That means current overload transistor Q5001 or Q5201 is shorted on the D board and must be changed

SOURCE: set wont turn on, stand by lights blinks 9 times

Have the same thing happening with ours... we were told by a repairman that it needs a new D Board. He told us that if we could fix the TV for under $500 that it was worth it, if not (which of course, we can't when you add in labor cost) don't fix it. I like the TV but I can buy a brand new flat screen for that!

TV WONT POWER ON
Hi does the TV have any standby light etc, if so power off at the wall and leave for 1 minute the power back on and watch the standby LED it may or may not blink try to power on if the light blinks this may be a fault code and you can search this up with the model number.

From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. Likely damage to main power supply-------try to see if there is a specific number of blinks then a pause and repeats like 7 blinks a pause and repeats---that is an error code if there---with it AND THE MODEL NUMBER OF THE TV I might be able or not to help.

Blinking of standby light in Sony sets are fault indication. The number of blinks occurs at one instance must be counted. With that bumber I can reach to the fault section inside its circuit; sometimes to the exact fault point too. Just turn OFF the set, and turn it ON, and count the number of blinks at a time [do this atleast 3times and make it sure]; and inform me by Fixya. OK.

Service Manual of KDP-57WS655 says if TV standby light blinks 9 times then problem is Zero Corssing Detector and you need to replace diodes, D6116 or D6301 which are open on G Board.
