Can't set mode to receive fax, read through manuel says DR mode in use. fax does'nt pickup when a fax or call comes in stuck in manual.

DR mode means that the distigntive ring feature has been activated so it will not let you change receive mode. You need to turn off DR first. Press menu/set then 2, 0, 2, then press the down arrow till you see distigntive off then press menu/set.

Now you should be able to change the receive mode to fax only!

Use the Reception Mode button to set appropriate answering mode - press it repeatedly until a small arrow on the display will point to the desired option:

"TAD" - is the one you are using now, when the answering machine picks up the calls.

"TEL" - is the setting when no automatic pickup occurs, you always have to pick up the call and either talk (if there's a person on the other side), or press START to receive a fax (when you hear the fax beeps on the other side).

"FAX" - is the setting when after four rings the fax will pick the call up automatically (no answering machine). If you pick up the call manually after 1-2-3 rings (before the automatic pickup) you can either talk or START fax reception.

It's good to check from time to time if the reception mode is as you want it, it's easy to change it by mistake.

The machine should have a menu selection. Sometimes it takes patience and time to sit down and go through items to select.
Without having a manual to check, these menus should be available for one to make changes to the fax features.
Somewhere in the menu selection there should be a fax setup recieve and send mode. In that selection you should find the choice to make your changes.
If you do not have a manual, other than finding someone with a manual, this would be your best way to make the changes.
The vender might have the manual, if they do, it might be for a fee.

DR mode is distinctive ring, you have to go into fax setup and step through the options. If you go to print reports and select user settings the report will tell you what it's set for and the options are found in the same order they are printed.

If it runs thru a phone line- pickup the phone and hit start button - if not just hit start when you hear it ring

Make sure that the receive mode is nt set to "manual receive."

DR mode means that Distinctive Ring is set to on which will force your fax machine to manual receive. Turn DR off and you can set it to whatever mode you want.

DR = Destintive ring

 

This mode is set to on, you need it off, it's in the menu settings somewhere have a hunt or goto brother webite and get manual.
