I am getting a msg on my handset to remove usb cable, but I am not connected to the usb. I am unable to charge my phone and have tried unplugging and removing battery and still getting the same msg. Any suggestions
The cable connected message is a problem. Do you have a USB/Data cable to sync your phone to your PC with, if so you could try that and see if the PC recognizes that the Phone/Device is connected and then eject it (by right clicking it's icon in your sys tray) properly. That may clear the USB message.
As for the charging problem, it is probably directly related to the message issue. I can only think of trying another battery and or charger if it still doesn't charge if/when you get the USB cable message cleared.
I must admit though that from your description of the problem my first impression is that the phone must have been dropped or possibly got wet, is either possible? What is the make and model of the phone, as the cordless phone listed above I wouldn't think would have a sync cable port?
