The receiver can only output picture from one video output at a time...ei; component video and HDMI cannot operate simultaneously. Nor can it transfer a signal from a component input to an HDMI output or vice versa. The input and output connections must match.

I am trying to connect my ps3 to this TV. i have tried with AV ables and through HDMI but it does not seem to work. is there a problem with compatability?

hi,
PS3 outputs hi definition video through HDMI ie 1080p. Your tv will not support that resolution. Because its a HD ready one ie 1080i. If you wnat to connect the PS3 through the hdmi then you have to down convert the video output resolution of PS3 to 1080i. for that you have to connect the PS3 to any FULL HD tv and go to the HDMI video setup and down convert the resolution to 1080i. After that you can connect the PS3 to you tv. Surely you will get the video.

There is one more way to get the video in you tv. connect the PS3's component video output to the component video input of you tv and the audio output to the corresponding component audio input . Select component video input on the tv. You need a component video cable and a stereo RCA cable for that.

I want to connect my philips home theater to samsung tv so how do i connect plz guide i hv three colour ep pin

Hi, to hook up a Tv to an home theater they are all the same process.

Instruction:

Make sure your playback devices are properly connected to your receiver. Whatever playback devices you use, make sure they are plugged into the appropriate inputs on your receiver. DVD and Blu-ray players, satellite boxes and cable boxes should all be plugged into video inputs, and CD players should be plugged into audio inputs. Your receiver will have labels on the back panel indicating into which input you should plug your devices.

Connect the video out to your TV's video input. Make sure you use the correct cable to make the connection. For newer receivers, the connection will likely be either HDMI or component. If your receiver has an HDMI output, use an HDMI cable to connect the receiver to the HDMI input on your TV. If your receiver uses a component output, use a component cable to connect your receiver to the component input on your TV.

Connect the audio output of your TV to one of the audio inputs on your receiver if you want to output your television's audio through your home theatre system. Most recent TVs will either use an optical cable or a digital coaxial cable to connect to the receiver, allowing you 5.1 channel surround from your television. If you have an older set, you will likely have to use standard RCA cables.

Turn on your receiver and press the "Setup/Menu" button on your receiver's remote. When "Input" appears on the display, press the right arrow key on your remote to select TV from the list.

After selecting TV, press the up or down arrow keys on your remote to select the audio input jack into which you have plugged your TV's audio cable. Press the "Exit" button on your remote to exit the setup menu and lock in the settings.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure you plug everything into the correct jacks or you will spend unnecessary time trying to troubleshoot why you don't have picture or sound.

I just purchased a Sherwood RD 6513 reciever, I'm trying to connect a hd cable box (motorola dch 3200), dvd player (sony dvp ns710h) and a rca hd tv (l32hd41). I connected hdmi cords from both components...

Hi! I will be more than glad to assist you. I f you are going to hook up your cable box - motorola to the sherwood receiver, connect an hdmi cable to the back of the motorola cable box, there is only 1 hdmi output there, then connect the other end to the sherwood receiver on the hdmi input, then connect another hdmi cable to the hdmi output and the other end goes to your rca hd tv.

for the sony dvp, you have only one hdmi out, connect an hdmi cable to the back of the sony dvp if u have another spare. connect it to the hdmi input of the sherwood receiver. there is only 1 hdmi output at the sherwood, so u need to use a component cable to be connected at the back of the sherwood receiver component output then the other end goes to the component input of the hd tv.

if you dont have anymore hdmi cable to hook up your sony dvp, u can use component cable, the connection will goes like this, connect a component cable on the output of the sony dvp and the other end goes to the sherwood component input then connect another component cable to the component output of the sherwood and the other end goes to the rca hd tv on the component input.

I hope this will solve your concern, if you have any question, u can get in touch..

The HDMI "input" ports damage output ports of connecting devices

i know this sounds stupid, but have you "toggled" or "played" with the HDMI cables? are they the same manufacturer? HDMI channel connections are very fickle. If just one connection is not exactly correct, they go to a limp, no go status. Since they run at such a minimal voltage, i can't see them "blowing" the outputs on the devices.however....if your cable has a serial type output for video only, I would connect the hdmi convertor to it and see if it works.

Connecting my wii to my home theater

  1. Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.
  2. Connect the Xbox One HDMI output to your A/V HDMI input.
  3. Connect your A/V HDMI output to the HDMI input on your TV.
  4. Notes
  5. This option requires that all devices support audio over HDMI.
  6. Surround sound from your set-top box will not be passed through the Xbox One.
  7. When you perform this kind of basic setup with an A/V receiver, you're passing both audio and video through another device. Depending on your equipment, there's a small risk of audio or video lag.
  8. Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.
  9. Connect the Xbox One HDMI output to the HDMI input on your TV.
  10. Connect the audio output from the TV to the audio input on the sound bar using either HDMI or optical S/PDIF cables.

I dont know how to hook up a dvd player

Depending on the model of DVD player and the TV you are trying to connect it to you have various inputs and outputs.

If your have an HD (High Definition) DVD Player and a HD TV the best input to use is HDMI. Both device would have an HDMI interface whereby you could connect them together.

If you have a standard DVD Player you have usually 3 other input/output options, RCA, S-Video, and Component. Your RCA jacks are colored Red, Yellow, and White. Your S-Video is a larger circular jack with several pins. The Component cable has Red, Green, and Blue.

Of the three above the Component Cable connection is going to give you best picture quality. S-Video is second and RCA is third. You just need to match up the connectors on your TV and DVD and get the cable that accommodates the best picture quality. Again for clarification below are the interface options for best quality to poorest:

1. HDMI
2. Component
3. S-Video
4. RCA

Hope this helps.
