Have side by side will thaw out all the way get to 45 deg in frig and after a while I will check the frig and freezer and both are ice cold again?! when cold compressor and ciols are very warm to the touch. Everything seems to be running fine but something is obviously broken. Help please

If your coils are froze up, this could be temperature sensor I believe or your defrost valve, usually back in the fridge is your coils if they are frozen solid you need to unplug refrigerator freezer let it thaw out, you will have lots of water so get towels and stuff to soak up your water once it is thawed,plug frigerator freezer back in give it time to cool back down if the refrigerator side is cool now then I would say defrost valve or temperature sensor will need replaced there also should be a fan that blows the cold air into your refrigerator,, was it run for about a day or so if it starts freezing up again that's more proof defrost valves not working

Check your freon level you can buy piercing valve for about 5 dollars low side pressure should be 11or12 on 134a after about 5 years I have found it sometimes seeps out of compressor

There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

the fan in the freezer is not working to blow the cold air in the freezer you need a new fan you need a repair man it will cost you $300 good luck i have the same problem don't buy samsung they are useless that why home depot don't sale samsung

Hi, yes, your thermostat could be faulty, yes there should vent( damper), check controls on freezer side, controls amount of cold air going to ref. side, yes could be stuck by ice, yes both adjustment are necessary, check manual, some thermostat are very sensitive, you should adjust gradually, wait for about 40 minutes, before adjusting again. yes there's vent flap (damper) yes that could be your problem, normally they get stuck with ice, remove covers to locate it., you 're smart, you will see, damper, good luck.

Sounds like a defrost problem or an evaporator fan problem . I would suggest you have a professional check it for you to find the problem and then do the repair yourself . If the fan isn't working , probably a main control board problem and not the actual fan ,which is costly . Also , possible thermistor problem which takes experience to diagnose . Buying parts without knowing which is bad can be realy costly on GE refrigerators .

Sounds like the defrost timer is not working correctly or the start capacitor is malfunctioning,Both are cheap and easy fixes.
