Coffee maker still makes the coffee, however it now takes about 10 times as long to brew the pot of coffee and the resulting pot of coffee is only about 1/3 full, even though all the water is being used. In other words, my coffee maker is making less coffee and it the process is taking much longer. Is the machine clogged somewhere and is this problem worth fixing?
It may not help but won't hurt; put a couple of cups of plain vinegar into the water chamber, turn on briefly until it starts to pump, then turn off and leave overnight - at least, if not longer. The mild acid content may clear some lime buildup.
The vinegar works perfectly. It's not a quick fix(remember calcium deposit took a while to build up to enough block the system) so be patient. As Steve suggested, leave the vinegar overnight then try to operate the percolator. If it doesn't operate as you expect at first keep turning it on with the same vinegar solution and eventually it will clear.
