My ps3 has stopped turning on. The light turns to green, the console begins to start up, then it flashes yellow, beeps and goes to red.

My PS3 had the same problems. I found that if I disconnected the HDMI cable and installed the cable with the 3 phone jacks, Red,Yellow, and White, that it came on and has been playable since. Before that I got the YLOD, red screen display, pressed the on button for 3 beeps and got the reset. That worked for about 30min then went to a blank screen. Gave up and was ready to send it to the shop, but then as a last resort I connected the other cable and it has worked ever since. Must have been in the HDMI cable.

YLOD = yellow light of death as it is known. It can be fixed normally has to be re-soldered inside this is because of dust build up and or system overheating.
