How do i restore default settings on this router when i cant get the internet while the router is plugged in only get internet when i use computer without route. The modem and internet flash red

The first thing that you need to do is to reset the router. The reason why you need to reset the router because that will help you to fix the problem and to know the main problem/issue.

Steps

To perform a factory reset:

1. On the back of your router, locate the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button.
2. Using a paper clip or similar object, press and hold the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button for about seven seconds.
3. Release the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button and wait for your router to reboot.
   After your router is finished with the factory reset, the Power light stops blinking and lights solid green.
   Note: The Power light on newer router models lights solid white.
   The factory default settings are restored.

Note: Once you reset the router it will be back to factory default settings and you need to setup the internet connection settings on to your router


Once your done with the hard reset try connect your computer and if your computer will have the same issue connecting to the router it only means that the problem is on your computer / try to connect other device first before you reset the router

You didn't supply the Model of NetGear device. Push and hold the reset button for 30 seconds or so, release. This will reset to default settings. Reconfigure the SSID and Security settings. It happened because the router automatically resets to it's default settings. Maybe you accidentally touch the reset button or the device was shaken to restore its default settings. Go ahead and check the router configuration. Or maybe the wireless switch of your router was turned off. Better check that as well.

When the router is turned on, the Internet light turns amber for about 20 seconds and then turns green. If the light does not turn green, the router has a problem. If the Internet light is still amber 1 minute after turning on power to the router: a. The Internet is not accessible. Confirm that you have the correct internet setting. b. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power light to stop blinking and become solid green. The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web browser using the factory defaults.

the only thing you need to do is reset your router to go the IP address original 192.168.2.1
because when you setup it as a access point the router change the Ip Address.

restore the router to factory default settings, please do the following:

1. Unplug the router's power supply
2. Press and hold the reset button on theback of the router
3. Keep the reset button depressed and, at the same time, plug the power supply back in
4. Keep the reset button depressed for another 10 seconds
5. Release the reset button

do this for 3 times and you will acces your router.

First thing to try is rebooting devices in this order, 1.Modem, 2.Router and 3.Computer.

If the above did not fix your issue then keep reading.

Plug you computer directly into your router via an ethernet cord and try accessing internet again. If this fixed it, then you have some wireless settings misconfigured. A "hard reset" can possibly fix this by restoring all settings to default. There is a little pin sized hole on the back of your router, inside of it is a button. Stick something like the end of a paper clip into it and press for 5 seconds while the router is plugged in.

If it is still not working then plug your computer directly into your modem via an ethernet cable and reboot the modem then your computer (in that order). Once everything is back up and running, try the internet again. If this fixed it, your router is the culprit and is either misconfigured or malfunctioning. Perform a hard reset as described above to put all settings back to default on your router and try the internet again.

If you still do not have internet access then you either have a computer problem or your internet has a problem or has been shut off.

To rule out the possibility of a computer problem, try your computer at a friends house or work to see if it can access the internet there. If there is an unsecured wireless router that you can pick up from home, try using it just to see if you can get internet access.

If the computer does work when connected to someone elses router, then you need to call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to see if there is a problem with your account and have them fix it.

Remember that every time you connect a different piece of hardware (router, computer) directly to your modem, you have to reboot your modem so it leases an IP to that specific piece of hardware.

You need to reset the router if the lights are flashing. Press the reset button at the back of the router for about 20 seconds then release it. Now unplug the power for 20 mins as well and plug it back in. Make sure your connection is right. PC connected to port 1 and modem to WAN or Internet port.

Try restoring the router to factory defaults. With the router plugged in, insert a pin to press the reset button. Hold it for 10 seconds then release. Your router should be restored to factory defaults then you can set it up again.

there is a need to reconfigure your router to work with your modem. If configured already before, then there is great chance that this has been set back to factory default.
