As far as the pointer goes, check your GPS antenna installation. It might be getting interferance from another antenna. There should be somewhere in the software where you can check the signal strength of your GPS antenna. Make sure you install it where you are getting optimal strength. If you are getting nothing then your GPS antenna might be bad. You can order another one off of ebay for about 20 bucks if that is the case.

Usually when the night time/day time feature of the unit doesn't work the wire in the Avic wiring harness that gets the signal from your car harness isn't installed to the right wire or is loose. There is also a possibility that the aftermarket harness that they put on so they won't mess up your factory harness doesn't have the wire that carries the signal for your light control. Any way you put it, if you really want this fixed you might want to take it back to whoever put it in...

You need to turn on the audio for the IPOD in the system settings.
