My hose will not come out and extend. If I can

My hose will not come out and extend. If I can force it out, I can not put it back into the vacuum. I've tried putting powder down the hose but that didn't work.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

If you are able to remove the hose and wand assembly, its worth checking for a blockage as this can cause the wand/hose to be difficult to remove and put back in place.

If you need further assistance, please call our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Dyson DC14 hose won't extend and floor unit lost suction

Sounds like the exhaust side is clogged. Remember a vacuum pulls air into the cavity, but for it to work properly it also has to be able to exhaust the same amount of air it takes in. If the exhaust is blocked it will continue to suck air inside and collapse on itself, which is why your hoses are getting shorter and harder to move. Check the exhaust system for any blockages, perhaps the hole you taped was the exhaust.

The extended vacuum tool will not retract into the handle and therefore no "vacumm" is created

the wand ? if the wand won't go back into the hose, sprinkle baby powder on it and see if that helps. The inside of Dyson hoses get sticky after a few years.

When I go to pull out the extension hose it sticks and is a pain. I can eventually get the tube to extended out but it takes pulling the hose down one section at a time.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25 hose. If the wand takes a lot of force to remove, it's likely that the hose was twisted when you replaced it on the cleaner after the last time you used it.

It's simple to resolve - please follow the steps shown in the video embedded below. If you need any further help, please get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting steps over the phone with you. You can call free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Hose is plugged close to the handle. How is the handle removed from the hose and reassembled after the plug is removed?

I don't recommend this for the homeowner. Take the hose in to your nearest AERUS store. It is just too easy to damage the pins and rings putting the handle back on. If you insist on trying, remove the little torx screws under the little buttons on the top side of the handle. Good LUCK and be careful. Don't force anything.

Loss of suction

You may have a colg in the power nozzle of hose. Disconnect the hose and drop a quarter through it.

My Dyson DC20 motorhead vacuum has a blocked hose - how can I unclog this? I think there is a sock caught up by the handle. The hose has electrical wires running through it so I cannot cut the hose.

Usually a plugged hose can be cleared using a broom handle, if you can force the blockage through, if not as previously suggested a coat hanger attached to the broom handle (duck tape will do) straighten out hanger so it can be used like a cork screw to screw into the blockage and pull it out, socks, underwear and pantyhose are the usual suspects!

I need to reassemble my rainbow e series electrified hose handle

Yes, it is a ground wire. When you put it back together, make sure that the two halves of the hose handle are holding the wire up against the metal. I just had one apart the other day for the first time and if I recall correctly, the wire goes near the center for reassembly. Hope this helps!
