My on screen TV guide no longer works, and my TV keeps losing time (between 10 and 20 minutes). I'm not sure how to fix this. Is this a hardware issue or a settings issue? Has someone else had prior experience with this?

Do you have cable TV? Many Cable TV companies have recently (over the last year or two) quit sending TV Guide data. You can get it through an external antenna connected to the TV's antenna input if you are within range of an ABC or NBC and a PBS affiliate for the clock auto set.

But if you still have TV Guide service, some of these have failed circuit boards for the TV Guide, ( usually shows a complete black screen when you turn it on or hit guide button.

Good day!

Usually that problem is cause of the failing capacitors on the power supply section.
You have to do is open the back cover of your TV and look for the actual image of the capacitor with in the power supply section if it is leak/bulged on the top. Please replaced it with the same type, ratings and value.

Thank you and good luck.

Click on the display button (upper left corner) as a short term fix - it will turn it off immediately - not sure of how to permanently solve this though.

According to Time Warner cable I no longer have TV Guide On Screen because the PBS piggy back signal is no longer being sent. Apparently, PBS is getting ready for HDTV. I live in Wilmington NC and we went...

PBS in my area says that my cable provider, Time Warner is no longer using the analog signal that contains TV Guide On Screen info. They did this to prepare for digital in Feb. Time Warner says they are waiting for Gemstar/Macrovision to provide a method for the On Screen feature to work. My source at PBS reckons there are over 25,000 cable card TV's that may lose this On Screen Guide. Apparently there is no legal requirement for TV Guide or your cable provider to send the guide.
Users may want to try and contact TV-Guide/Gemstar/Macrovision directly at their toll free number
1-800-386-7380. This may not be a solution but it may be a consolation for users wanting to know why they have lost their TV Guide On -Screen.
