My Harmony One won't charge. It's in its cradle. The cradle is plugged in and the light is on. I've wiggled the unit to make sure it is seated correctly. But it simply won't charge. Any suggestions?

Generally there are three possibilities (apart from the battery going bad) that can cause your remote not to charge:

1) Some folks have reported that the battery is not sitting tightly enough in the battery compartment. You can try folding a small piece of thin cardboard and place it between the battery and the back of the compartment. This will push the battery towards the front of the compartment and create a tighter connection against the contacts.

2) There have been reports of problems with some of the charging cradles in which the remote does not make sufficient contact with the contacts in the cradle. To ensure that the remote begins to charge, place it in the cradle and listen for a single beep. The slide show should start and then, after a few moments the screen should darken. If you hear two beeps at any time, it means that the remote has lost contact with the charging cradle and has 'woken' and is no longer in charging mode. Wiggle the remote to ensure that it is sitting in the cradle and making contact. There are also some fixes that can be done of the cradle itself, including opening it up and adjusting the height of the contacts. Others have had luck cleaning the contacts on the remote and the cradle with alcohol or a contact cleaner like DeoxIT. Harmony 785 charging cradle does not charge the remote. The cradle lights up as normal. There used to be a sound when the remote was put on the cradle, but it stopped a few weeks ago. The remote shows a...

Try pressing down on the remote, and wiggling it around. It's just that the pins are not making contact I suspect.

If pressing down helps, you can fasten it on with a elasitc band or something so that it keeps charging. Also, if it is still under warranty, I woul advise contacting Logitech's wonderful support team to get replaced.

I recently had this same problem. The remote displayed a "low battery" warning and could not be used, so I left it on the charger overnight and the next morning, it still had no charge. Everything seemed to be fine (and I verified that it was making good contact with the charger), but it wouldn't charge.

Finally, I pulled out the battery to see if there was any obvious problem. There didn't seem to be, but when I put the battery back in, the remote suddenly started working (and showed about a 75% charge).

So far, it seems to be working (and charging) correctly since then.

I had the same issue. Battery, adaptor and cradle were OK. I opened the remote using the instructions from http://www.instructables.com/id/Logitech-Harmony-One-teardown/.
Steps 1 to 4; leave the rest.
Loosen the small print with the two charging points; it is fixed to the circuit board with a red and black wire. You can pull it out off the way. When i took a good look at the top left off the circuit board, wright above the black wire, i saw that the small component FB2 was broken. Just took it out and solderd the black wire loose. Place the black wire over the two contacts of FB2 and it's original contact and solder it with a bit more rosin core solder. Just put it together and bob's youre uncle. Good luck with youre repair.

This is a common problem for these remotes. Constant handling of the remote results in dirty charging contacts located on the bottom of the remote. Oils and acids from your fingers and hands also dirty the charging contacts. Also the contacts on the charging cradle can become dirty and have been known to not make solid contact. I would recommend cleaning BOTH the charging contacts AND the cradle contacts using a Q-tip and some good quality rubbing alcohol.Be careful to just wet the Q-tip and gently scrub the contacts only. Careful regular maintenance should help you resolve this problem. Also you could check the Logitech website for recommendations on how to clean their equipment.You can also try the rubber band trick!! Which is while placing the remote into the docking cradle, listen for a beep which indicates a solid connection. While still maintaining a solid grip on both charger and remote wrap a rubber band around both devices. This should ensure a good connection while the remote is charging! Good Luck!

However, most people have found that altering the height of the contacts on the charging cradle is a better way to go. If you want to open the remote, do the following: remove the two screws - one in the battery compartment and one at the top of the remote. Then, using your thumbnail (this is really the best, unless you have a thin, rigid piece of plastic. A part of a credit-card may work), force your nail between the two halves of the clamshell casing near the bottom of the remote on the left or right side. Once you get your nail (or plastic) into the remote, angle it down at about 45 degrees and simply slide your hand up one side. This will release all the locking tabs very nicely without marring the surface of the remote. Then do the same on the other side. Once you are done exploring, simply realign the two halves and snap them back together.

Try pressing down on the remote, and wiggling it around. It's just that the pins are not making contact I suspect.

If pressing down helps, you can fasten it on with a elasitc band or something so that it keeps charging. Also, if it is still under warranty, I woul advise contacting Logitech's wonderful support team to get replaced.

This is a common problem for these remotes. Constant handling of the remote results in dirty charging contacts located on the bottom of the remote. Oils and acids from your fingers and hands also dirty the charging contacts. Also the contacts on the charging cradle can become dirty and have been known to not make solid contact. I would recommend cleaning BOTH the charging contacts AND the cradle contacts using a Q-tip and some good quality rubbing alcohol.Be careful to just wet the Q-tip and gently scrub the contacts only. Careful regular maintenance should help you resolve this problem. Also you could check the Logitech website for recommendations on how to clean their equipment.You can also try the rubber band trick!! Which is while placing the remote into the docking cradle, listen for a beep which indicates a solid connection. While still maintaining a solid grip on both charger and remote wrap a rubber band around both devices. This should ensure a good connection while the remote is charging! Good Luck!
