Update map when are they going to come out with an update disk to get some of the new roads and such?

Navteq, who make the maps for Garmin and many other satnav makers, updates maps every 3 months or so. If they have been told of a new road it will generally appear on the next update unless it's reported too close to the release date. While most new roads are reported to them by the authorities you can report them yourself if you think it should have appeared on the maps by now.

Garmin updates new Maps annually, if new roads were built after the last update you would need to buy the new Map to get the roads...

Are your maps updated?

If so the road you on a new road that hasn't been programed into the maps yet?

Could be a few things going on, lost satelite, or a new road.... word to the wise Always carry a road map in your vehicle, GPS is a great tool but not always 100% right especialy if your on a new road, Maps are updated I believe every 6 months or more.

The only way to do this is through an update.

Nextar does have a 2009 SD card with new maps on it. Go to their website, look in the lower right hand corner, and there is a link to the new maps update.

It has a list of compatible devices. If yours is on the list, then that's it!

a map update "may or may not" fix the problem, because it depends on the date of the map updates and when the construction took place.

you can go HERE and download and install the web updater and follow the instructions.

Without access to your GPS and its make / model it is difficult to say if you have old maps or not.

Is it that it is taking you the long way around to places you know instead of using newer roads ?

It takes a long time for the GPS people to get all the latest roads into the system.

Thats why such as the TOMTOM have minor updates options the people submit so that your GPS will be aware of a closed road or some smaller new roads.

If your device supports going on-line for updates let it check for you and if it says there are newer maps or has an option to check for newer maps let it.
You are not committed to buy it but at least you will know

Hope this helps looks like you haveto pay for map updates after 30 days, but I am not positive.
