Hello,

To set up your webcam, please follow these steps:

Download and install the most recent drivers for your video device. If your video camera does not have drivers for Mac OS X, please use the drivers.

Select your video device in Skype under Skype Preferences- Video. This step is not required if you have an Apple iSight.
Make sure the option Enable Skype video is ticked. You can also set video privacy settings to desired options in the same window.

The minimum system requirements for Skype 2.0 for Mac are a Mac OS X v10.3.9 Panther or newer, G4 800 MHz and above, any G5 or Intel processor, 512MB RAM, 40 MB free disk space on your hard drive and a microphone.

Suggested webcams include Apple iSight, Philips SPC900NC, or Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000.

Video and call quality may vary greatly in environments with conditions below these recommendations. Please be sure, that your webcam is connected and not in use with another program.

If you experience any issues with your webcam, please contact the manufacturer directly.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thanks.

Unable to detect webcam on aa Toshiba laaptop while using skype

Make sure the WEBcam driver is installed.
When the WEBcam works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the installed WEBcam - Save the settings.

I have a compaq presario cq56 115dx and i dont know how to use the camera like on skype i want to make a video call and i cant

This model Compaq laptop does not have a built-in WEB cam.
You can check the specs from this WEB site.
http://www.cnet.com/laptops/compaq-presario-cq56-115dx/4507-3121_7-34498057.html

To use video call with Skype you need to purchase an USB WEBcam, connect the WEBcam into the Compaq laptop's USB port and install the WEBcam driver that came with the WEBcam.
Then configure Skype - select the WEBcam and mic.

Canot get picture during video call.

I guess the obvious question here is do you actually have a webcam fitted? If we assume yes then does the camera actually work? Again assuming yes, and assuming we're talking about skype then go into tools>options>video settings. Your camera should be listed, if it is and you are just getting a blank screen, you could try installing a program like many cam http://download.manycam.com/
Now it gets a bit weired. Open the many cam program and go into sources and select your webcam and (hopefully) it should show it working. Assuming it is then re-open skype as before and select manycam as the camera and it should then work. I've had to do this work around on a few HP laptops where the built in cam wouldn't work on skype.

My aspire 5532 is suppose to have a built in camera on it and i pressed F6 like you are suppose to, to get it to turn on and its not turning on. I will mainly use it for skype during video chats. What can...

I have the same laptop, and i got the same problem with the camera, but see what i found. The built-in camera is located in the same piece of plastic that camera does. Then, if you open/close the laptop so many times, this seems to damage the camera connection and is like it doesnt have any camera. So when i want to use the camera, i simply push with my thumb around the camera, and run the program/chat or anything that i will use the camera. Of course, you first look at the drivers, if correct , then try the other solution i post. And theres no built in microfone. Hope it solve it.

  • VIDEO SETTINGS (change the webcam from YOUCAM TO HP WEBCAM)
Now try a video call and see!Later on you if you want, you can change it back to Youcam...
1.Tools then Options

I have a laptop with a built in webcam but do not know how to access it. Can you help?

Try to run Cyberlink Cam Pro or any messaging applications like Yahoo and MSN Messenger or Skype and activate webcam under preferences or start a video chat/call to access your webcam.

HP KQ246AA 8.0MP Deluxe Webcam not working on skype. It keeps saying there is a video error-the video might be in use by another application or program. Except there isn't any other application that is...

Sometimes webcam software can still be hooked up on a previous program where it was being used, even if the program was correctly exited.
Just reboot your webcam software by unplugging the webcam from the USB port for a couple of seconds
Re-check your settings
  1. Start Skype.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Audio Settings.
  4. Select your webcam as the default microphone. ( If it has a built in mic )
  5. In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
  6. Select your webcam as the default Webcam.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Test LifeCam by making a Skype test call.
