Acer Aspire One Netbook

The keyboard on my Acer Aspire One netbook is driving me crazy! Some of the keys won't work such as the o and left shift key. Then some of the keys give alternate characters such as ( > )instead of ( . ) Also, when I try to highlight a word the whole sentence gets highlighted. Any thoughts on this?

SOURCE: how do I pop a key back on my keyboard acer aspire

There's a small plastic spring type clip that fits under the key. It has little nubs that stick out the side and fit into slots on the keypad base. The nubs break and your lucky if you find a replacement that stays in place long. You can get a new keypad for about 40 bucks on ebay and replace it in about 10 minutes.

There's a plastic trim strip across the top. pop one side with a small flat screw driver, remove, 2 screws at the top of the keypad and a ribbon cable to the motherboard. When removing the ribbon cable there's a small lip at the top of the connector, carefully lift that lip and the ribbon will pop out. Have fun

SOURCE: cant get rid of bilingual characters on acer aspireone netbook

Check your regional settings in the controll pannel. Your keyboard is probably set for "Canadian French"

By default it should just be set to US.

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. Some of the keys on my keyboard(aspire one netbook 8.9 ) will not work unless i depress the fn button. how do i de-activate it?

You accidentally set your netbook's NumLk on. The NumLk indicator is the third LED from the left at the top left of keyboard (on top of the housing for the battery). It is in between the disk activity LED and the caps lock LED. You can also confirm NumLk is on by starting the Notepad or Wordpad applications and pressing the following keys U I O P and J K L which will result in 4 5 6 * and 1 2 3
To regain normal (non keypad) operation of your keyboard, hold down the Fn key (2nd key from the left at the bottom - right beside the Ctrl key) and press F11 momentarily. This should turn off the NumLk LED

How do i make my screen brighter please? its driving me insane!

I have an Acer lap top and there is an Fn (function key) Icon on the <i and the i> keys that mimic a sun device. If you hold down the Fn key and tap the I> key down over on the right sideof the machine, then those taps should brighten the screen. Holding down the Fn key (left side) and tapping the <i key will dim the screen.

Some of the keyboard of my acer aspire one netbook is not working like backspace, number three, number two, caps lock, shift.

you need to clean the keyboard from dust and other unclean things.

try to blow air under the keypads, if you have a bicycle pomp, you can use it gently.
if not use a straw to point the air under the keys.
another option is to remove the keyboard cover and have a major cleanup to the keypad.

Cannot get video to tv with vga to s-video adapter

try to use the vga output enable function key. it should be one of the "F-keys" (F5, F6...) hold the "Fn" key (generally in blue for the acer aspire 5520 series) and press a key that has a drawing resembling two monitors, but not the one that has a brightness drawing inside on of them, as it will turn off your main screen backlights. in the acer aspire 5520, it is the F5 key. look for a picture of this model's keyboard and you should see a similar key on your netbook as it is a manufacturer standard.
