I replaced the 2 light bulbs on the underneath side of the microwave. The two lights that lights that light up the stove top. Since then the lights do not turn on. The microwave works in all other features except for the counter top lights. What would be the problem and can I fix it? The microwave is a GE #JVM1650WB 001
We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Have the same problem. Lights don't work. We had one light explode and now the other light and a replacement bulb will not work. The exhaust fan also will not work. However, all the other functions of the microwave are working fine. This is a Hot Point RVM 1325 BW model.
I have a similar problem that you state you see alot. The 2 bulbs on the bottom of the unit for the range do not work. It appears that someone attempted to change a bulb without first disconnecting the power cord and shorted a filament.
Please confirm that this problem is in the control panel for the Samsung model SMH7178STD over the range microwave oven and also state the current repair charge and provide instructions for where to send it.
Thanks.
