I took a long video on my Canon PowerShot SD870 IS - about 10 minutes long. I'm trying to transfer it to my PC, but whenever I do it says the file has been compressed in a way no program (neither windows media player nor quicktime) can recognize. Furthermore, I don't even know if the video is transferring! In the Canon folder before I copy it over to the computer it says the file is 936MG but then once I save it to my computer is says the file is 0MG. What's going on and how do I fix this?
Using a card reader is not a solution. It's a work-around. IT dos not solve the fact that many canon cameras have this problem with large files.
It is useless that you cannot copy it without using a card reader. Everybody should be able to transfer their files from camera to any computer anywhere, without having to bring anything but the usb cable.
Try using a card reader to transfer the video to a folder you create on your desktop.
