<p>Bar codes are machine-readable representation of data. They
have expanded the complexity of the original data representation in various
widths and spacing of vertical lines in use today that use of squares, dots and
other shapes and patterns can make. Originally, bar codes only in businesses
such as supermarkets to track inventory. Today, they are included in all phases
of the business, including the identification of everything from business
equipment to identify individuals. Bar code tracking can be achieved by reading
an optical scan or scan a picture special. To detect barcodes, decoding
software, such as applying bar code scanner Brothersoft.com is used. This
article explains how to detect barcodes. <br />

Did you make the barcodes using Code 39 or 3 of 9? If so, the scanner defaults to reading between 2 and 55 character Code 39 barcodes. Go to the Motorola Solutions support portal and search for Article ADC-00404 portal motorolasolutions com. Print the article and scan the Code 39 Any Length barcode. Once this is done the scanner will read all Code 39 barcodes.
Hello Glenn, to test the scanner I would suggest to download and install the Datawedge application. It is an desktop installation. As you will connect your MC55 to the Desktop per Active Sync the application will be installed also to your MC55. The DataWedge aplication will activate the scanner and the decoded barcode is sent as usual keypad input to the system. The application is running in background, if you scan a barcode a pop-up window will come up. Or if another application is running it will send the input to the application.
Hello,
Datamatrix is 2D Symbology. Actually this MC55 is a model with 1D Laser Scan engine. The laser cant scan 2D barcodes, therefore he is not decoding the datamatrix barcode.
You would need an MC55 with an 2D Imager or with Camera to scan 2D Barcodes.
The barcode is probably not enabled in factory settings. I would propose to use the manufacturers software called DataWedge, provided at support.symbol.com and check again.
If you still have no luck try to find out which kind of barcode is it, by the producer and enable it in the settings of the software. Or better just select the option "Enable All" in the Basic configuration of DataWedge
DataWedge is an Application provided by Symbol/Motorola to enable the scanning module also for application without the driver. Scanned barcode is sent like an usual keyboard input.
There can be just one active application using the barcode scanner. If you are running DataWedge, you would need to stop it before starting any other application with built-in scanner drivers.
To stop DataWedge just click on the barcode icon in a right down corner and select - Disable DataWedge
download the datawedge file for the mc55. Its probably not loaded and configured. Once you have this file on the device and you need additional information please let me know
