1. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the player. Plug the other end into an available USB.
2. The player will light up with the red flashing LED light flashing to

4. The Removable Disk auto-run window will appear on your computer.
1. Plug one end of the USB cable to the USB port on your MP player. 2. Plug the other end of the USB cable to an empty port on your computer. The computer will automatically recognize it. 3. Double-click "My Computer" on your desktop. Your player will be listed as a hard drive on the new window. 4. Double-click your player to open it. Locate and open the "Media Library/Pictures" folder. Drag your JPEG photos to this folder to upload them to your player. 5. Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" button on the lower right of your screen. Highlight your player on the new hardware window, then click "Stop." When prompted, detach your player from your computer. This action prevents your player from loosing information.
If you are using an USB extension or an USB external hub, get rid of it.
Try plugging the MP3 to a different USB port.
Try unplugging AC charger, and removing laptop batter for ten minutes, sometimes this can fix problems caused by accumulation of electrostatic charges on USB controller.
If that does not solve the problem, test a different USB device on the same laptop, and test the MP3 on a different computer. Either one may be faulty.
If the problem is the laptop you may fix it by removing and reinstalling USB root hub on hardware devices in Control Panel.
I think I found my answer. With my player connected I went to Control Panel- System- Hardware- Device Manager and under Portable Devices removed my Zen Player. I then went back to Control Panel- Add Hardware- and let the Add Hardware Wizardaddmy player back. My Zen Micro Photo now connects to computer and I can charge the battery with no problem.
