No...write down all the numbers on the ID plateand go get a new one...the numbers will make sure you get the exact motor you need...electric motors are general, based on the numbers...

My 2hp hayward super pump is just out of warranty and has begun leaking. It also has a high pitched whine which comes and goes. Does that mean waters gotten into the bearing and if so can I replace it?...

Yes, water may have entered into the motor, mainly into the front motor bearing, where it washed away the lubrication. This will only make the noise louder and will need to replace the bearing. otherwise it will eventually seize and no longer work.

I have a Hayward pump that is making a wining noise.

Your motor bearings are failing. It is most often caused by a leaking pump seal. It is a relatively inexpensive repair if it is caught early enough; before the shaft is damaged from the corrosive water eating into the steel. Take it to a local electric motor repair shop for inspection. It will likely need a set of 203 bearings for the motor and a mechanical seal for the pump. All told, depending on the labor rates, it should be less than $75. You could try to repair this yourself however if you are not familiar with the process it is money well spent having someone who is do the repair for you.

How can I tell if my noisy Hayward Super 1hp pump noise is in the motor or the pump?

99.9999% OF THE TIME its the bearings going bad, and need t be replaced asap.due to a bad shaft seal... search your area for your local pool pump motor repair guy with free testing. should be around $75 to repair it if caught in time.. here in florida lizards, frogs, grass and snakes and the such get into the motor and you can get that grinding sound but it will soon fade, but can restrict airflow and make your motor run hot and fail prematurely.. so if the noise doesn't fade in say a hour or two.. have it checked .. here is how to remove most pump motors just click on this link.. hope it helps ya .. jay florida

I replaced the shaft seal today and the pump motor is getting hot and shutting off every 30 seconds or so. The motor is making a wineing sound and no pressure is comming up on the filter.

The motor is not turning, either due to a seized impeller or bearing. Check for free spinning of the motor and impeller by hand. If ok, then look for a bad starter capacitor or defective primary/secondary motor switch assembly

Hayward 1hp super pump stops working

Your motor has a thermal protection switch in it the reacts to an overheating condition. Once the motor cools enough it will turn back on. You may be able to have the motor rebuilt for about half the cost of new if it is not damaged to severely. Take it to a local electric motor repair shop for service. If it is damaged beyond repair, you can shop around for a new one. If you would like a quote, contact us at www.arrowpools.net with your pump model number and we can quote it.
