I would like to hook up wireless headphones to a 1999 Sylvania 26-inch tv. It does not have headphone jacks, so I have to use the RC plugs in back. How can I cut the sound to the television speakers while keeping it on the headset.

The RCA jacks (Red and White) usually have full-level output and are not affected by the volume control. (Without those you can buy an adaptor for a 1/8" stereo jack to RCA females and plug the RCA males there--that may be volume controlled or not or both.) The RCAs are meant for an audio system that would control the volume but should work fine with a headset that has its own control. -Ken

Sylvania wireless headphones

Instructions
1
Set up the transmitter. Wireless headphones rely on a transmitter that sends audio via infrared or radio waves to your headset. Use the digital audio output (coaxial or optical), RCA outputs (red and white) or headphone jack on your TV to connect the transmitter. The connection will depend upon which outputs are available on your TV and/or the transmitter.
2
Use an RCA-to-headphone adapter. If you don't have a headphone jack on your TV and the transmitter includes only a headphone connection, connect an RCA-to-female headphone connector. This will allow you to plug the wireless transmitter into the female headphone end and then hook the RCA ends into your television's audio outputs. You may also need a 3.5 mm (mini jack)-to-1/4-inch adapter if the headphone plug on the transmitter doesn't match the television jack.

3
Set the transmitter on top of, or next to, the television. For infrared transmitters, you'll need a direct path between the headphones and the transmitter. Placing the transmitter on or near the TV will allow you to take advantage of the clear path you already have.
4
Plug in the transmitter and turn it on. Charge the headphones if necessary.
5
Turn on the headphones. Adjust the volume and settings and you're ready to watch TV.

Sennheiser 126 connect to tv

You should be able to hook the tv to the cable box the cable box should have your A/V jacks. If so unplug the PS3 plug in your receiver to the cable box and run the PS3 through the receiver. Also check the side of the tv for HDMI inputs if you have HMDI you can go to Radio Shack and get a converter to go from HDMI into A/V

My 26 inch Panasonic Viera TV has what looks like a headphone jack on the side of it but when I plug headphones in the sound still comes through the TV speakers. How do I get the headphones to work?

Check you USER MANUAL to make sure it is actually a headphone OUTPUT jack and not a digital INPUT jack.

If your tv does not have a headphone output jack you can always get an adapter that plugs into the red and white AUDIO OUT jacks in the back.

If you want to turn off your tv's speakers, go to the MENU.
Then go to AUDIO then select SPEAKERS OFF.

Good luck and please post back with how you make out.

Wireless headphone hook up

Hello depends on how you hook it up as thee are several ways.

many receivers will output sound through the headphone jacks even when the speakers are left on.(my receivers require that you manually turn speaker A off when using headphones)

it may be possible for you to connect the headphones to a tape output but this will require headphones that have a volume control on them or an external.volume control knob.. You may encounter a problem as I am not sure if a tape output will provide enough signal to drive a pair of headphones. this would not be a problem if you use a pair of WIRELESS headphones as they have their own power source onboard..

A set of wireless headphones could also easily be connected to the output on the back of the TV but assuming you have your receiver plugged in to the TV audio out you may need a couple of Y adapter cables.

Also if your receiver has a pair of PRE OUT jacks those would work to power a set of wireless headphones may also power a wired set but once again not sure on power as I have never needed to try it.

Hope that helps a bit

Can't connect wireless stereo to sylvania 6620LF4

you can hook this particular unit up to your stereo reciever if available. if i am not mistaken the original design purpose of these headphones were to be powered through a stereo reciever, at least it is a sure fire way of keeping your tv's sound in tact and using the headphones when needed. most receivers have a speaker a and speaker b configuration if you attach the lead from the headphone unit to the opposing speaker input then you can have the functions you desire and the performance you have indicated. hopes this fixya.
Best regards

You'll need an Audio Out connection on the tv for surround to work properly. The signal level and the impedence mismatch of a headphones jack would not work or work poorly.
