Hi its Darran at Dyson.

We would recommend checking it for a blockage and a removing any hair or fibres from the brush bar.

As the brush bar relies on the suction power of your machine, it would be worth cleaning the filter and checking for blockages as this may cause a loss of suction will in turn stop the brush bar in the Mini Turbine head turning.

If you are still experiencing difficulties, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Why won't my Dyson DC44 rechargeable vacuum brush attachment not work or pick up anything?

Hi Kim, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC44's motorised cleaner head doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, it sounds as if there is a blockage somewhere. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc44/dc44-animal/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/removing-blockages-from-the-power-floor-tool

The video I've attached should also help you check for and remove any threads, hair or debris caught around the brush bar.

If you'd like further help after you've given this a try, please get in touch with us directly so our experts can talk you through some additional troubleshooting checks. You can reach the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Brush not turning

The belt doesn't have to be broken to be non-functioning. If the belt is intact but stretched it won't turn the brush. You can get belts here:

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.
