We recently purchased and installed an HP Compaq presario, and now we don't get the printing display in the lower right corner that would indicate the task in progress with page of page, number of pages and...ink levels. Also we can't cancel a project in 'mid-print' without turning the printer off and on again/

Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

I used the drill method in the video. Took a while to get it printing again but so far, so good. THe low ink light went out so the pritner thinks the cartridge ink level went up as it did.
Will post again if it breaks.

FYI,
you cannot reset the ink it self.
If your using an HP refilled ink cartridge the warranty of your printer will be void.
you need to contact HP right away to purchase new ink cartridges.
If the cartridge has been refilled or remanufactured, 'Low on Ink' or 'Ink Alert' messages may be inaccurate or display incorrectly.
